Description
The Lasertec CX4DG is a compact, self-levelling green laser that projects a horizontal and vertical crossline plus plumb dots up and down, so one tool covers most alignment and levelling jobs around the house or on site. The ultra-bright green beams are easy to see indoors, and an optional detector (sold separately) lets you work over longer distances and outdoors.
About the product
The CX4DG uses a pendulum self-levelling system. It levels itself within a range of ±4°, so you can set it up quickly without fiddling with bubbles. It projects a horizontal line, a vertical line and a plumb dot up and down for transferring points between floor and ceiling. Accuracy is rated at ±2mm at 10m, and it is a Class 2 green laser. The housing is plastic, and the unit runs on two AA batteries (included) for 6 hours or more of use.
Where to use it
Indoors: setting out cabinets, shelving, tiles, wall frames and pictures, running level lines for skirting or architraves, and lining up fixtures from floor to ceiling.
Outdoors: marking levels for fencing, decking and landscaping jobs when paired with a compatible detector (sold separately). Operating range is 40m with the optional detector.
How to use it
- Place the laser on a flat surface, the floor base or the magnetic mount, or fit it to a tripod using the 1/4" or 5/8" x 11 thread.
- Switch it on and let the pendulum settle. The laser self-levels automatically within its range.
- Use the floor base when you need to see the plumb dot projected downwards.
- Use the locking switch for tilt lock (manual) mode when you want to project a sloped line. In this mode the laser does not self-level, and the beams flash regularly to remind you.
- Use the supplied laser target to make the beam easier to see over longer distances.
What is included
- Lasertec CX4DG dot and crossline laser
- Magnetic mount
- Floor base
- Laser target
- AA alkaline batteries
- Carry pouch
Important notes
An optional laser detector is needed for outdoor or long-range work and is not included. The green beam can be hard to see in bright sunlight without a detector. Check the levelled position against a known reference from time to time, especially after the unit has been knocked or dropped.

Care and storage
Never look directly into the laser beam or point it at people or animals, and do not view the beam through optical instruments. Switch the laser off and lock the pendulum before moving or transporting it. Remove the batteries if it will be stored for a long period, and keep it in the carry pouch in a cool, dry place. Wipe the housing and laser port gently with a soft, clean cloth. Keep out of reach of children.
