The Makita 12V Max CXT Multi Cutter is a compact cordless cutter for carpet, vinyl, rubber and similar flexible sheet materials, supplied here as a skin-only unit for anyone who already owns Makita 12V Max CXT batteries. It is light and short enough to handle easily, and its self-sharpening blade keeps cutting cleanly without regular blade changes.
About the product
This cutter runs on Makita's 12V Max CXT slide-style lithium-ion battery platform. The motor delivers a no load speed of 300rpm for smooth, controlled cutting, and the blade resharpens itself automatically as it rotates. The soft-grip handle and lock-off button help with comfort and control, and the tool can cut materials up to 6mm thick. With a battery fitted it weighs about 0.9kg and measures about 291mm long.
Where to use it
Indoors: trimming carpet, vinyl and rubber flooring, cutting cardboard and packaging, and general sheet material work on flooring and fit-out jobs.
Outdoors: cutting flexible materials on site, such as underlay and matting, where a cordless tool is easier than running a power cord.
How to use it
- Slide a charged Makita 12V Max CXT battery onto the tool (battery and charger are not included).
- Support the material on a stable surface and keep your hands clear of the blade.
- Release the lock-off button and guide the cutter along your marked line, letting the tool do the work.
- Cut materials up to 6mm thick; the self-sharpening blade keeps its edge as you go.
- Remove the battery before changing accessories, cleaning or storing the tool.
Important notes
Sold as a skin (tool only) unit. A compatible Makita 12V Max CXT slide battery and charger must be purchased separately. The maximum cutting capacity is 6mm, so this is not intended for thick or hard materials. Use only genuine Makita batteries and chargers.

Care and storage
