Description
The Makita DHP482Z is a compact 18V hammer driver drill built for tradies and serious DIYers who want a short, easy-to-handle tool for everyday drilling and fastening. It is supplied as a skin only, so you can pair it with Makita 18V LXT batteries and a charger you already own.
About the product
This model has a short overall body of 198 mm, which makes it easier to manoeuvre in tight spots and overhead. Inside, all-metal gears are used for a tougher transmission. XPT (eXtreme Protection Technology) helps protect the electronics from dust and moisture. A two-speed mechanical gearbox, an electric brake, variable speed trigger control and 21 clutch settings let you match the drill to the job. Two LED job lights with pre-glow and after-glow brighten the work area more widely than a single light would.
Where to use it
Indoors: fixing cabinets, fitting hardware, driving screws into framing and drilling holes in timber, metal and masonry in confined spaces.
Outdoors: decking, fencing, framing and general site work, where the XPT protection helps against dust and splashes.
Rated drilling capacity is 38 mm in wood, 13 mm in steel and 13 mm in masonry, and the tool can run in drill or hammer drill mode.
How to use it
- Fit a charged Makita 18V LXT battery (sold separately).
- Use the speed selector switch on top of the tool to choose the low or high gear.
- Open and close the single-sleeve keyless chuck with one hand to change bits.
- Set the clutch collar for driving screws, or switch to the drill or hammer drill setting for drilling.
- Use the trigger to control speed and the reversing switch to back screws out.
Important notes
Battery and charger are not included. Use the hammer setting for masonry only, and use a drill mode for timber and metal. The soft grip handle is shaped to help you put weight behind the bit. Always use sharp, correctly rated bits.
