Description
The Makita 18V Brushless Stick Vacuum (DCL284ZWX1) is a light, cordless stick vacuum for quick clean-ups around the home, workshop and job site, supplied as a skin only so you can run it on the Makita 18V batteries you already own. It pairs a brushless motor with a HEPA filter and four selectable suction levels, so you can choose between more power and longer runtime.
About the product
The brushless motor delivers a maximum sealed suction of 18kPa and a maximum air volume of 1.2m³/min, while the whole unit stays easy to carry at 1.6kg with a battery fitted (1.0kg as a skin). A push button steps through four suction levels (125W, 75W, 40W and 20W) to balance cleaning performance against runtime. The HEPA filter captures 99.97% of fine particles, and the translucent dust capsule holds 730mL, so you can see when it needs emptying and tip out the contents easily.
Where to use it
Indoors: floors, stairs, benchtops, skirting boards and window sashes around the home, plus workshops, garages and shop floors.
Outdoors: vehicle interiors, utes, caravans and covered work areas, wherever you can keep the unit dry.
How to use it
- Fit a charged Makita 18V battery (not included) to the vacuum.
- Attach the pipe and the floor nozzle for general floor cleaning, or use the sash nozzle for corners, edges and tight spots.
- Press the button to cycle through the four suction levels. Use the lower settings to stretch runtime and the higher settings for heavier debris.
- Empty the 730mL capsule when it is full and keep the filter clean for consistent performance.
- Store the sash nozzle on the supplied holder when it is not in use.

Important notes
Battery and charger are not included. Runtime depends on the battery and suction level used, and Makita quotes up to 16 minutes at the maximum setting with a BL1860B battery. This is a dry-use household and workshop vacuum, so keep it away from water and wet debris.

Care and storage
Switch off and remove the battery before changing nozzles, emptying the capsule or cleaning the filter.
