Description
The Perma Child Safety Door Lever Handle Lock is a simple, tool-free way to stop small children opening doors and wandering into rooms they should not enter, supplied here as a handy pack of two. It sticks on with a self-adhesive backing, so there is no drilling, no screws and no tools to find, which also makes it a practical choice for renters.
About the product
Each lock is made from ABS plastic with a foam adhesive backing and sits over a standard lever-style door handle. The manufacturer rates it at 15 kg of pull resistance. Adults can release it with one hand, while a young child will find it hard to work out.
Where to use it
Indoors: bedroom, laundry, bathroom, study, garage access and pantry doors that fit standard lever handles, or any room you would like to keep off limits to toddlers.
Outdoors: not intended for outdoor use.
How to use it
- Check that your door has a standard lever handle and enough clear space beside it for the lock to sit flat.
- Clean the area where the lock will be stuck and let it dry fully so the adhesive can grip well.
- Peel the backing from the adhesive, position the lock over the lever and press it firmly into place.
- Test the release with one hand before relying on it. Always follow the instructions printed on the pack.
Important notes
This lock deters children but is not a substitute for adult supervision. Adhesive grip depends on the surface, so textured, dusty, greasy or damp surfaces may not hold as well. Check that the lock does not block the way out of a room in an emergency. Take extra care with doors that older children or adults may need to open quickly.
