Description
Permastik Fly Screen Repair Tape is a simple, low-cost way to fix small holes and tears in a flyscreen without replacing the whole screen, supplied here as a 5m x 50mm black roll. You cut a patch to suit the damage and stick it on, so one roll covers plenty of small repairs around the house.
About the product
A self-adhesive repair tape in a black finish, made from fibreglass material. It comes on a long roll rather than as pre-cut patches, so you can size each patch to the hole instead of being tied to a fixed patch size. The black colour suits standard dark flyscreen mesh.
Where to use it
Indoors and around the home: patching small holes, rips and tears in window and door flyscreens, and in similar fibreglass insect screens, as an easy fix until the screen is due for a full re-screen.
Outdoors: the screen being repaired may be on an outside window or door, but the manufacturer does not publish weather or UV ratings for the tape itself, so treat it as a quick repair rather than a permanent one.
Designed for fibreglass flyscreen mesh. Test on an inconspicuous corner first if your screen is made from a different material.
How to use it
Measure the hole or tear and cut a piece of tape large enough to cover it with some overlap. Peel off the backing, position the patch over the damage and press it down firmly so the adhesive makes full contact with the screen. A clean, dry screen surface helps the patch stay in place.
Important notes
This is a repair for small holes and tears, not for large damaged areas, where re-screening is the better option. The patch will be visible on the screen. The manufacturer does not publish adhesive cure times or temperature limits, so avoid heavy stress on the repair straight after fitting.
