Description
Permastik Mirror Mounting Tape is a double-sided foam tape made for hanging mirrors and other lightweight flat objects indoors without drills, nails, screws or messy glue, supplied here as a single 32mm x 5m roll. It suits renovators and DIYers who want a clean, quick fix that leaves no visible fixings, and it is a popular choice for frameless bathroom, bedroom and hallway mirrors.
About the tape
This is a heavy duty, double-sided foam mounting tape in white, with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on both faces. There is nothing to mix, no cure time to wait out and no tools needed. Permastik rates its mounting tapes by the load each metre of tape can carry, and tests them to Australian Standard AS 2313.0-2006. The tape is designed for use across a wide temperature range, from -20°C up to +60°C. Check the pack for the exact load rating of this roll before you plan your job.
Where to use it
Indoors: mounting mirrors, wall-mounted panels, signs, plaques and other flat, lightweight household items to clean, dry, smooth surfaces.
Outdoors: not recommended. This is an indoor tape. For outdoor jobs choose a purpose-made outdoor mounting tape.
Suitable surfaces include painted walls, glass, tiles, metal and timber, provided they are clean, dry, smooth and flat. Porous or uneven surfaces such as plaster, raw concrete, bare wood and fabrics need to be primed, filled or sealed first. Bare metal should be primed or abraded, and low-energy surfaces such as non-stick paints and some polypropylene plastics need treatment before they will hold. Test a small area first if you are unsure.
How to use it
- Clean the wall and the back of the item so they are free of dust, grease and loose paint, then let them dry completely.
- Apply the tape vertically. Do not apply it horizontally.
- Cut lengths to suit the job and stick them to the back of the object, keeping them evenly spaced.
- Check your position carefully, because the bond grabs quickly and repositioning is difficult. A removable pencil line or a helper makes alignment easier.
- Press the object onto the surface with firm, even pressure for 30 seconds.
- Support the object until the bond has fully developed.
- In cold conditions (below 10°C), warm the surface gently with a hair dryer and apply the tape while the surface is still above 10°C.
Important notes
Mounting tape is intended to be a permanent fixing, and removing it may damage the surface. If you do need to take the item down, the manufacturer suggests running dental floss behind it to cut through the foam. Do not use on uneven surfaces, and keep the mounted object to no more than 30mm thick. Do not exceed the load rating on the pack. Heavy or valuable items should be fixed mechanically or with a structural adhesive instead.

Safety
It is a solid tape with no solvents to handle, but keep it out of reach of children. Cut with scissors or a sharp blade and take care with the cutting edge. Store the roll in a cool, dry place with the liner in place so the adhesive stays clean. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
