Description
Permastik Ultra Bond Mounting Tape is a heavy duty, double-sided foam mounting tape that lets you fix items in place without drilling, nails or screws, supplied here as a 5m x 32mm roll. It suits quick indoor jobs as well as outdoor, automotive and marine projects where the fixing needs to cope with sun, moisture and temperature swings.
About the tape
A white, double-sided foam mounting tape with a thickness of about 1.5mm. The manufacturer rates it to hold 30kg per metre of tape, tested to Australian Standard AS 2313.0-2006, and describes it as UV and moisture resistant. It stays serviceable across a temperature range of -20°C to +120°C, so it copes with heat and cold better than many everyday household tapes.
Where to use it
Indoors: mounting trims, panels, signs, organisers and light fittings to painted walls and other smooth, clean surfaces, without leaving screw holes.
Outdoors: fixing items to suitable exterior surfaces, plus automotive and marine projects where weather and moisture resistance matter.
The manufacturer lists suitable materials as glass, metal, timber and plastics, as well as painted walls. Test plastics and freshly painted or textured surfaces on a small area first.
How to use it
Clean both surfaces so they are free of dust, grease, oil and loose paint, and let them dry fully. Measure and cut the tape to length, apply it to the item, then peel off the backing and position the item carefully. Press down firmly and evenly across the whole length of the tape. Use enough tape to spread the load, because the weight rating applies per metre of tape.
Important notes
Bond strength depends on surface preparation and on how firmly the tape is pressed on, so take care with both. Dusty, oily, flaking, damp or very rough surfaces will weaken the hold. The 30kg per metre rating is a manufacturer test figure, so allow a safety margin for items that are valuable, overhead or subject to vibration. Check that your surface is suitable before mounting anything heavy.

Safety
Use with normal care and keep the tape away from young children. Apply to clean, dry surfaces and avoid trapping fingers when positioning heavy items. Store the roll in a cool, dry place out of direct sun. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
