Description
Plaid Mod Podge Gloss is a classic all-in-one craft product that works as a glue, a sealer and a finish, supplied here in a 236ml (8 fl oz) bottle. It is a water-based formula that dries clear to a smooth, glossy surface, making it a go-to for decoupage, scrapbooking, kids' crafts and general paper, wood and fabric projects.
About the formula
A non-toxic, water-based acrylic sealer, glue and finish that is certified AP non-toxic and cleans up with soap and water while still wet. It dries quickly, so you can build up several thin coats for a deeper gloss, and it can be lightly sanded between coats for a smooth, glassy result.
Where to use it
Indoors: decoupage with paper or tissue, scrapbooking and card making, sealing painted or printed craft pieces, finishing wooden craft items, and bonding or topcoating fabric in craft projects.
Outdoors: this standard gloss formula is aimed at indoor craft use. The Mod Podge range has a separate outdoor formula for items that will be exposed to weather.
Suitable materials include paper, cardboard-style craft papers, wood, canvas and fabric, and it works best on porous surfaces. Plastic can be used but may need light sanding or preparation first for good adhesion, so test a small area before starting.
How to use it
Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of dust and grease. Apply a thin, even coat with a brush or sponge applicator, press down your paper or fabric and smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles. Once it is dry, brush a thin coat over the top as a sealer. Allow each coat to dry completely before adding the next, and lightly sand between coats with fine sandpaper if you want an extra-smooth finish. Clean tools and skin with soap and water while the product is still wet. Close the bottle firmly after use.
Important notes
Several thin coats give better results than one thick coat. Dried Mod Podge is not water-resistant, so it is not the right choice for items that will be left outdoors or regularly soaked. If you need a finish that stands up to dishwashing or the weather, choose the matching Mod Podge dishwasher-safe or outdoor formula instead. Always test on an offcut or hidden area first, especially on plastics, delicate papers and printed images.
