Description
QEP Carpet Seaming Tape is a ready-to-use cold seaming tape for joining broadloom carpet, supplied here as a single 5 metre roll. It is made for DIY carpet installs and repairs where you want the join to stay concealed and the finished floor to look neat and professional.
About the tape
This is a step-on style tape. You don't need a heat-bond iron. You lay the tape under the seam and press the carpet edges onto it, and it holds them together. The roll is already cut to a handy length for typical DIY seams, so it is easy to handle and place.
Where to use it
Indoors: joining two lengths of broadloom carpet along a seam, and tidying up carpet joins during a repair or a small installation project.
Outdoors: not intended for outdoor use.
It is designed for carpet. Check that it suits your carpet backing before you start a larger job.
How to use it
Make sure the subfloor is clean, dry and free of dust and loose debris. Trim the carpet edges so they meet cleanly. Run the tape along the length of the seam and position it so the join sits centred over it. Press the carpet edges down onto the tape, then walk along the seam to firm up the contact so the edges are held together evenly. Follow any instructions printed on the pack for backing preparation and positioning.
Important notes
This tape is for indoor use only. Press the carpet edges together carefully the first time, because tapes of this type grip on contact and are difficult to reposition. Keep the roll clean and stored in its packaging until you need it. Cure or set times, load ratings and traffic ratings have not been confirmed for this exact product, so check the packaging for any limits on use.
