Description
The QEP Flexi-Tip Grout & Sealant Smoother is a simple hand tool for giving silicone, mastic and other sealant joints a neat, even finish. Its flexible tip follows the joint, so DIYers and tradespeople can tidy a bead without fuss, and it is also handy for finishing grout, filler and putty.
About the tool
The smoother combines a rigid plastic body with a soft thermoplastic rubber tip. The body gives you something comfortable to hold and push with, and the flexible tip presses into the joint to shape the bead and take off the excess. It works with gap sealant silicone, mastic and other types of sealant, and it is easy to clean after use.
Where to use it
Indoors: sealant lines around baths, showers, sinks, basins, benchtops and window frames, plus grout, filler and putty finishing on tiling and flooring jobs.
Outdoors: tidying sealant joints around window frames and similar trim where you are working with a compatible sealant.
Suitable for use over the surfaces your sealant, filler or grout is applied to, such as tiles, glass, timber, laminate and painted trim. The tip is flexible and is intended to shape the product, not to scrape hard surfaces.
How to use it
Apply your sealant, filler or grout into a clean, dry joint in the usual way. Run the smoother along the joint in one steady pass with light, even pressure so the flexible tip shapes the bead and pushes it into the gap. Wipe the tip clean as you go to avoid dragging excess product along the joint. Clean the tool before the product cures, using the clean-up method recommended for the sealant you are using.
Important notes
This is a finishing tool only. It does not include sealant, filler or grout. Work within the open or skin-over time of your chosen product, because smoothing is best done soon after application. For a clean line on visible joints, many users mask the edges first. Colour is orange and blue.
