Description
Ramset ChemSet 101 Plus is a two-part, marine grade polyester anchoring adhesive for fixing threaded studs and starter bars into solid and hollow base materials, supplied here as a single 600ml cartridge with two mixing nozzles. It is made for trade and site work. Typical jobs include steel columns, machinery hold-downs, handrails and post-installed reinforcing bar.
About the formula
The resin is a marine grade polyester. Part A is a polyester polymer with inorganic filler, and Part B is a benzoyl peroxide catalyst. The two parts mix into a grey paste as they pass through the nozzle. The formula is styrene free, so it has a lower odour and low VOC once cured. It is non-drip and slump resistant, which suits overhead and vertical holes. It dispenses easily in cold weather. The resin is designed to reach full load capacity in dry, wet and flooded holes, as assessed to EAD 330499 Option 7. The cured adhesive is vibration resistant.
Where to use it
Indoors: machinery and equipment hold-downs, plate and frame fixings, handrails and balustrades, and starter bars or post-installed reinforcing bar.
Outdoors: structural steel columns and beams, facade pins, gates, fencing posts and safety barriers, including in wet or flooded holes.
Suitable base materials include solid concrete, brick and hollow concrete block, and it bonds steel threaded studs and reinforcing bar into them. Always check the Ramset load tables and the Specifiers Anchoring Resource Book for the design capacity of your application.
How to use it
Fit the supplied mixing nozzle and load the cartridge into a compatible applicator, such as the Ramset ChemSet universal applicator. Dispense and discard the first portion until the colour is an even grey. Drill, clean and prepare the hole as set out in the Ramset installation instructions for your anchor type and size. Inject from the bottom of the hole, insert the stud or bar with a slight twist, and leave it undisturbed. Do not load the anchor until the cure time has passed. Fit a fresh nozzle if you stop work for longer than the working time.
Important notes
Working time is about 6 minutes and loading time is about 50 minutes at 20°C. Cure times change with temperature, so check the Ramset data sheet for colder or warmer conditions. Installation is recommended with the base material and adhesive between 5°C and 40°C. The cartridge should not be below 5°C. The resin is not resistant to solvents such as acetone, benzene, xylene and styrene. Anchor design, hole preparation and loading should follow the manufacturer's technical documents, and critical structural fixings should be specified by a qualified engineer.
