Description
The Raven RP14 is a self-adhesive foam weather strip in grey, supplied as a 5m length for sealing the gaps around doors and windows. It helps cut down draughts, dust and insects, and the peel-and-stick backing makes it an easy weekend job for most households.
About the product
A compressible, open-cell urethane foam strip with a self-adhesive backing, designed to sit in the gap between a door or window and its frame. The foam is soft enough to squash into the gap and keep contact with the surface, which helps block air movement, dust and insects. It is a non-stretch strip that you simply cut to length. One 5m length is generally enough to go around an average door frame.
Where to use it
Doors: around the perimeter of the door frame to close the gap between the door and the frame.
Windows: around the frame of awning, casement and hopper windows where the sash meets the frame.
Suited to timber and aluminium door and window frames, provided the contact surface is clean, smooth and dry.
How to use it
- Measure the gap first. This strip is intended for gaps of roughly 3mm to 5mm.
- Clean the contact surface so it is smooth, dry and free of dust and grease. Painted surfaces should be fully cured.
- Cut the strip to length with scissors or a box cutter.
- Peel back the backing paper a little at a time and press the strip firmly into place along the frame.
- Close the door or window gently and check that it still latches comfortably.
Important notes
The adhesive will not grip well on freshly painted surfaces that have not cured, or on oil-rubbed finishes. Choose the strip to suit the gap: if the gap is outside the 3mm to 5mm range, a different Raven profile may suit better. Leftover strip can be kept for later repairs.

Care and storage
Keep the unused strip in its pack in a cool, dry place away from direct sun until you are ready to use it. Wipe the installed seal gently with a damp cloth when needed, and replace it once the foam is flattened, worn or no longer sticking. Keep out of reach of young children.
