Description
The Raven RP14A is an extra wide, self-adhesive foam weather strip in white, supplied as a 5 metre coil for sealing the gaps around doors and windows. It is a simple DIY fix for draughts, rattles and the dust and insects that find their way in through loose-fitting frames.
About the product
The strip is made from open cell urethane foam, which is soft and compressible so it conforms to uneven frames and closes up gaps. It has a pre-applied adhesive backing, so there is no glue to mix or apply. The wider profile than the standard RP14 suits larger gaps of about 3mm to 5mm, with the exact fit left to the user to judge. A 5m length is generally enough for an average door frame.
Where to use it
Indoors: around the perimeter of internal door and window frames where you want to cut draughts, rattles and noise.
Outdoors: around the frames of external doors and windows to help keep out heat, cold, dust and insects.
How to use it
- Clean the contact surface so it is smooth, dry and free of dust and grease. Painted surfaces should be well cured.
- Measure the frame and cut the strip to length with scissors or a box cutter.
- Peel back the backing a little at a time and press the strip firmly into place along the frame, so the foam sits where the door or window closes against it.
- Close the door or window to check the seal. It should compress lightly without stopping the door or window from latching or closing.
Important notes
The adhesive will not grip oiled or alkyd finishes, or easy-clean wash and wear paint surfaces, so choose a clean, plain surface. The strip suits gaps of roughly 3mm to 5mm, so check your gap before buying. Not intended for use as a bottom door seal where it would be dragged along the floor.

Care and storage
Keep the coil in its packaging in a cool, dry place until you are ready to install it, away from direct sun and heat. Wipe the installed strip gently with a dry or slightly damp cloth if needed. If the foam becomes worn or flattened over time, peel it off and fit a fresh length.
