Description
The Raven RP14B is an extra thick, self-adhesive foam weather strip for the wider gaps around doors and windows, supplied as a 2.5 metre white coil. It is a simple DIY fix for draughts and rattles, and it also works well as a cushioning strip.
About the product
A soft, open cell urethane foam strip with a self-adhesive backing, so there is no glue, nails or special tools to deal with. At 12mm wide and 12mm thick, it is the thick option in the Raven DIY range and suits user-determined gaps of 8mm to 11mm. It is non-stretch, which helps it keep its shape as you press it into place. The white finish blends in with most painted frames.
Where to use it
Indoors: around the perimeter of door frames and window frames to cut down on draughts, dust and noise, and to stop loose doors and sashes from rattling.
Outdoors: on exterior door and window frames where you want to close up a gap. Fit it to the frame, not to surfaces that stay wet.
How to use it
- Measure the gap first. The strip is intended for gaps of about 8mm to 11mm, and the closed door or window should compress it lightly.
- Clean the frame so the surface is smooth, dry and free of dust or grease. Painted surfaces need to be fully cured.
- Cut the strip to length with scissors or a box cutter.
- Peel back the backing a little at a time, then press the strip firmly along the frame.
- Close the door or window to check the fit and the seal.
Important notes
Self-adhesive seals will not stick well to oiled or alkyd finishes, or to easy-clean wash and wear paints, so choose a clean, smooth, fully cured surface. This strip is made for gaps of 8mm to 11mm. For narrower gaps, a thinner Raven strip will be a better match. Allow for the compression of the foam when you check how a door or window closes.

Care and storage
Keep the strip in its pack until you are ready to fit it, in a cool, dry place away from direct sun. Wipe the installed strip gently with a damp cloth if it gets dusty. Replace it once it has flattened or lost its grip, and peel it off slowly to reduce marking on the frame.
