Description
The Raven RP48 is a self-adhesive grey weather strip for door and window frames, supplied as a 5m pack (2 x 2.5m lengths) that is enough for an average door frame. It is made from soft EPDM rubber and sits in the corner between the stop and the frame, where it compresses to close off the gap.
About the product
The strip is a soft, closed-cell EPDM rubber seal with a self-adhesive backing. It suits gaps of 3mm to 5mm, and you set the final gap yourself when you fit it. The profile is about 9mm wide and 6mm high. Raven describes it as a DIY product that helps cut down draughts and rattles and can also be used as a cushioning strip.
Where to use it
Indoors: around the perimeter of internal doors and windows, to reduce draughts, rattles and noise.
Outdoors: on external door and window frames, including single or double doors that open inwards or outwards, security screen doors and bi-fold doors. It also suits awning, casement and hopper windows.
How to use it
- Clean the frame so it is smooth, and make sure any paint is fully cured.
- Use a pin to carefully separate the backing from the adhesive.
- Separate the twin rubber strip into a single strip.
- Fit the seal on the latch side and the hinge side of the frame, in the corner between the stop and the frame.
- Cut to length with scissors or a box cutter.
Important notes
Self-adhesive seals will not stick to oil-rub finishes. The surface must be clean, smooth and well cured if painted. Check that the gap falls between 3mm and 5mm before fitting. This pack is for the grey colour only.

Care and storage
Keep the strip in its pack in a cool, dry place until you are ready to fit it. Avoid touching the adhesive face, as dust and oils reduce grip. Wipe the fitted seal with a damp cloth when needed.
