Description
The Raven RP48 White Self Adhesive Weather Strip is a soft EPDM rubber compression seal for the gap between a door or window frame and its stop, supplied as a 5 metre coil in white. It is made for gaps of 3 to 5mm and helps reduce draughts, dust, noise and insects around the home.
About the product
The strip is made from soft EPDM rubber with a self-adhesive backing, so it peels and sticks without tools or fixings. It is designed to sit in the corner between the stop and the frame, where it compresses as the door or window closes to form a snug seal. It is sold as a 5m pack (2 x 2.5m lengths), which is generally enough for an average door frame.
Where to use it
Indoors: around internal door frames and window frames to cut draughts, rattles and sound transfer.
Outdoors: around external doors and windows to help keep out heat, cold, rain, insects and bushfire embers.
It suits timber, aluminium and PVC door and window frames where there is a consistent 3 to 5mm gap.
How to use it
- Check that your gap sits within the 3 to 5mm range.
- Clean the frame so it is dry, smooth and free of dust and grease. Painted surfaces should be fully cured.
- Cut the strip to length with scissors or a box cutter.
- Peel back the backing and press the strip firmly into the corner between the stop and the frame.
- Close the door or window to check the seal compresses evenly without being forced.
Important notes
Self-adhesive seals will not stick well to oily or oil-rubbed finishes, so make sure the surface is properly prepared. The strip is designed to be applied as it comes and is not intended to be stretched. Measure your gap first, as the seal is made for 3 to 5mm gaps only.
