The Ring Outdoor Camera Plus Battery is a wire-free 2K security camera, supplied here as a two-pack in white so you can cover the front and back of the property in one purchase. It uses Ring Vision imaging to give a wide, sharp view of driveways, patios and gardens, and it runs on a removable rechargeable battery pack, so there is no need to run power to the mounting spot.
About the product
Each camera records in 2K and has a wide field of view. Low-Light Sight is designed to keep colour and detail in near-dark conditions, with nearby street lighting being enough to help. Live View lets you check in from your phone, and Two-Way Talk lets you speak to visitors through the built-in microphone and speaker. Motion detection sends alerts to your mobile device when activity is picked up. The camera is weather resistant and works with Amazon Alexa. Ring also offers a theft protection replacement policy on its devices (terms and conditions apply, see Ring's website).
Where to use it
Outdoors: mount it on a wall or ceiling near entrances, driveways, side gates, patios, sheds or backyards. The weather-resistant build suits exposed positions.
Indoors: it can also be placed inside, for example in a garage or workshop, where you want a wide view without running a cable.
How to use it
- Install it yourself in around 10 minutes. Fix the mount to a vertical or horizontal surface, attach the camera and connect it through the Ring app.
- The 3-axis adjustable camera makes it easy to fine-tune the angle once it is up.
- Power comes from a removable Quick Release Battery Pack. One pack is included per camera, and each camera can hold up to two packs. Swap in a charged pack when needed, or recharge the one you have.
- The camera connects over dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), so a stable home Wi-Fi signal at the mounting spot is important.
Important notes
Live View, Two-Way Talk and real-time motion notifications work without a subscription. A Ring Protect plan (sold separately) is needed for features such as saved video history for up to 180 days and person alerts. Video quality depends on your internet bandwidth, so Ring recommends a minimum upload speed of about 3.5 Mbps for best results. Ring notes the camera may turn off for a time in direct sunlight during extreme heat. This is a battery model, so it is not suitable for plug-in or hardwired power without the matching Ring accessories. Ring sells separate plug-in and solar versions.

Care and storage
Wipe the camera lens and body with a soft, damp cloth when dirty, and avoid harsh solvents. Charge the battery pack indoors using the supplied method and keep it away from heat and moisture. Keep batteries and small parts out of reach of children. If the camera will be unused for a long time, store it in a cool, dry place with the battery partly charged.
