Description
Roberts Quick-Repair Floor Putty in Black is a ready-to-use acrylic filler for hiding gaps, nicks, scratches and fastener holes in laminate, vinyl, hybrid and engineered timber floors, supplied in a handy 88ml squeeze tube. It suits quick touch-ups on an existing floor as well as tidying up during installation, and it can be used straight from the tube or blended with other shades in the Roberts range to get a closer match to your flooring.
About the formula
An acrylic-based putty that is ready to use with no mixing. Roberts describes it as fast drying and non-shrinking, so the fill stays level with the surface. Once dry it can be sanded or painted over. The manufacturer lists it as low VOC, and each tube has a two-year shelf life.
Where to use it
Indoors: filling nail and screw holes made during floor installation, closing small gaps between boards or planks, and covering chips, dents and scratches on floors that are already down.
Outdoors: not intended for outdoor use.
Suitable surfaces include laminate, vinyl, hybrid flooring, engineered timber and timber flooring. Black is a good base shade for dark floors, and it can be blended with other Roberts putty colours for in-between tones.
How to use it
Clean the damaged area so it is free of dust and loose debris. Knead the tube thoroughly for at least 20 seconds before use. Squeeze putty into the gap, hole or scratch and press it in firmly so it fills the void, then smooth it level with the surrounding floor. Wipe away excess with a damp rag straight away and do not let putty dry on the surrounding flooring. If you need a custom shade, mix small amounts of different colours before applying, and test the match in an inconspicuous spot first. Once dry, the repair can be lightly sanded or painted if needed.
Important notes
Colour can look slightly different once dry, so test first. Reseal the tube tightly after use, because putty left exposed to air can dry out in the tube. Heavily trafficked spots such as doorways may need a further touch-up over time. This is a cosmetic filler, not a structural repair product or an adhesive.
