Description
Roberts Quick-Repair Floor Putty in Brown is a ready-to-use acrylic filler for hiding gaps, nicks, scratches and fastener holes in laminate, hybrid, vinyl and engineered timber floors. It comes in an 88ml squeeze tube, so it suits small touch-ups during an install or repairs to a floor that is already down. The brown shade can be used on its own or mixed with other Roberts Palette putty colours to match your floor.
About the formula
This is a water-based acrylic putty with a thick paste consistency. It is ready to use straight from the tube and is made to dry quickly without shrinking back out of the repair. Once dry it can be sanded or painted. The manufacturer also describes it as low VOC and gives it a two-year shelf life.
Where to use it
Indoors: filling nail and screw holes during floor installation, patching chips and scratches on existing laminate, vinyl or engineered timber floors, and closing small gaps at board edges.
Outdoors: not intended for outdoor use. It is listed for interior flooring repairs only.
Suitable materials include laminate, hybrid and vinyl flooring (including LVP and LVT), engineered timber and wood flooring. Test the colour in a small, hidden spot first, because the shade shifts a little as the putty dries.
How to use it
Clean the damaged spot and make sure it is dry and free of dust. Knead the tube for at least 20 seconds to mix the putty. Squeeze a little onto the damage and work it into the nick, scratch or hole with a putty knife. Wipe the excess off the surrounding floor with a damp rag before it dries. If the colour is not quite right, blend two shades together before applying. Once dry, sand lightly if needed. The putty can be painted over for further colour options. Wash tools and hands with soap and water.
Important notes
Always use the lightest base colour of your floor as the starting point for colour matching, and let a test patch dry completely before judging the match. The manufacturer lists a dry time of about 30 minutes, but this depends on temperature, humidity and how thick the fill is. For best results, store the tube at room temperature and do not let it freeze, as freezing may affect performance. This putty is made for flooring repairs and is not a structural filler or an adhesive.
