Description
Roberts Quick-Repair Putty in Grey is a ready-to-use floor repair filler for hiding gaps, nicks, scratches and fastener holes in laminate, vinyl, hybrid and engineered or timber floors, supplied in a handy 88ml squeeze tube. It suits both fresh installations and repairs to floors that are already down, and it can be used straight from the tube or blended with other Roberts shades to match your flooring.
About the formula
An acrylic-based putty that dries quickly and is made not to shrink back as it dries. It sands smoothly and can be painted over, so you can fine-tune the colour or finish once it has set. It is a low VOC product with a two-year shelf life, and the soft tube lets you squeeze out a controlled bead for neat, quick application.
Where to use it
Indoors: filling nail and screw holes during floor installation, closing small gaps between boards or planks, and touching up chips, dents and scratches on existing laminate, vinyl, hybrid and timber floors.
Outdoors: not intended for outdoor use.
Suitable surfaces include laminate flooring, vinyl flooring, hybrid flooring, engineered timber and solid timber floors. Grey is a mixable base shade, so test your colour match on an offcut or a hidden spot before committing to a visible repair.
How to use it
Clean the area first so it is free of dirt, dust and grease. Knead the tube well for about 20 seconds, then snip the tip to suit the size of bead you need. Press the putty firmly into the gap or hole and smooth it level with the floor. Wipe any excess off the surrounding floor with a damp rag before it dries, because dried-on filler is much harder to remove. If you need a closer colour match, mix shades before applying. Once the putty has fully cured it can be sanded flush or painted if required.
Important notes
Always choose or blend a shade that matches the lightest base colour of your floor. Store at room temperature and do not let the tube freeze, as freezing can affect performance. Cure and recoat times vary with bead depth, temperature and humidity, so allow the repair to cure fully before sanding, painting or walking on it heavily. Reseal the tube after use to keep the remaining putty usable.
