Description
Rust-Oleum Concrete Fast Patch is a grey, two-part epoxy putty for repairing cracks, pits, spalls and low spots in concrete, supplied here as a 0.95L kit. It is made for quick garage, basement and slab repairs, and you do not have to wait for it to fully cure before it is prepared for coating in many situations.
About the formula
A polyamine-cured epoxy putty that is 100% solids by weight and volume. The two parts mix 1:1, with no induction period, and the mixed putty stays workable for up to 30 minutes. It is designed to bond permanently to concrete without shrinking or cracking, and it can be used on vertical cracks as well as horizontal slab damage. No special equipment is needed.
Where to use it
Indoors: garage floors, basement floors and walls, and other concrete surfaces needing hairline crack, pit and small flaw repairs before painting or coating.
Outdoors: the manufacturer data does not specifically rate it for exterior exposure, so check with the manufacturer before using it on exposed outdoor slabs.
Suitable materials include concrete and masonry, and the manufacturer also lists wood, fibreglass and asphalt as substrates it bonds well to.
How to use it
Remove all dust, debris, paint, dirt, oil, loose concrete and curing compounds from the repair area, and make sure the surface is dry. Apply only when the temperature is between 10 and 38°C. Mix equal parts A and B on a scrap piece of cardboard or similar platform, using a broken paint stick or putty knife, until the colour is uniform. Press the putty into the crack, hole or pit with a small putty knife or plastic squeegee, then scrape off the excess so the repair is level. Most coatings can go straight over uncured patch where repairs are shallow and narrow. For large repairs (deeper and wider than about 12 mm), let the patch cure fully, then sand with 80 grit sandpaper to profile the surface before coating. Clean tools with xylene.
Important notes
The kit fills cracks up to 6.4 mm deep. At 21 to 27°C and 50% relative humidity, full cure takes 8 to 12 hours, and the repair is then suitable for foot and vehicle traffic. Cooler or more humid conditions will change these times. If you are scraping or sanding old paint, it may contain lead, so wear appropriate respiratory protection and clean up carefully. Shelf life is 12 months in a dry, unopened pack. Do not use below 10°C.

Safety
Keep out of reach of children and animals. Store between 10 and 32°C, away from extreme heat, cold, moisture, direct sunlight and fire hazards. Two-part epoxy products can irritate skin and eyes and may cause allergic skin reactions, so wear gloves and eye protection, work in a well-ventilated area and wash thoroughly after handling. Xylene used for tool clean up is flammable and harmful, so handle it with care. Always read the manufacturer Safety Data Sheet before use.
