Description
ScotchBlue PROSharp Painter's Tape is a premium blue masking tape built for crisp, clean paint edges, supplied here as a single 36mm x 55m roll. It suits both indoor and outdoor jobs and is designed to deliver sharp lines across a range of paint types and finishes, which cuts down on touch-ups and repainting.
About the formula
The tape uses 3M's Edge-Lock+ technology, which the manufacturer says gives twice the hold of its original Edge-Lock design and seals the edge against paint seepage. It has a medium-strength adhesive that is solvent-free. The multi-layer construction and smooth premium backing resist tearing and slivering and help the tape bed down evenly. The manufacturer also describes it as UV and moisture resistant, and it is designed to come off cleanly without leaving sticky residue, even after sun exposure.
Where to use it
Indoors: masking trim, skirting boards, cornices and painted walls, protecting window glass and tiled floors, and cutting in around kitchens and bathrooms.
Outdoors: masking exterior doors and window trim and other outdoor surfaces ahead of painting.
Suitable surfaces include smooth or lightly textured walls, drywall, trim, wood, tile and glass. It is not just for painting, and also works for temporary labelling, marking lines and light-duty removable holding around the home, workshop or classroom.
How to use it
Start with a clean, dry surface. Press the tape down firmly along the line you want to protect, then let it settle for 30 to 60 minutes before you paint. Remove it by lifting an end slowly and pulling it back on itself at roughly a 45-degree angle, ideally once the paint is touch dry or as the paint manufacturer recommends.
Important notes
The tape is designed for clean removal for up to 21 days after application. Leaving it on longer than this raises the chance of residue or surface marking. It is rated for use in outdoor temperatures from about 4°C to 38°C. It is made for smooth or lightly textured surfaces, so test a small hidden area first if you are unsure about a delicate or freshly painted finish. The roll is made with 40% renewable resources, and the core contains 70% post-consumer waste.

Safety
Use with normal care. Keep the roll away from young children and store it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight, ideally in its original packaging. Take care when using a blade to cut the tape. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
