Screw-It-Again Snap-Off Wood Anchor Screw Hole Repair (4 Pack)

Description

Screw-It-Again is a snap-off plastic wood anchor that rescues stripped or worn screw holes in timber, MDF, plywood and particleboard, supplied here as a pack of four. Instead of filling the hole with glue and sawdust and waiting for it to dry, you screw the anchor into the damaged hole, snap it to length and refit your original screw, all with a basic screwdriver.

About the design
Each anchor is a tapered, threaded plastic fastener with a notched head, so it can be driven in with a screwdriver. It is scored into sections so a single anchor suits a range of hole and screw sizes, and the manufacturer states that one anchor can repair several stripped holes. A side slit allows for expansion as the screw goes in. Per the manufacturer, the 2 inch anchor suits screws from #2 to #16.

Where to use it
Indoors: loose or sagging door and cabinet hinges, furniture, wooden toys, guitar necks and any other spot where a wood screw has lost its grip.
Outdoors: the manufacturer does not specify outdoor performance for the wood anchor, so check suitability for your project before using it in exposed locations.

Suitable materials include solid timber, MDF, plywood and particleboard.

How to use it
1. Match: use the illustration on the pack to match your screw size to the right section of the anchor, then snap off that section.
2. Screw: gently drive the anchor into the existing stripped hole with a screwdriver.
3. Snap: when it will not go any further, snap the anchor off at the desired length by hand or with pliers. Keep the leftover piece for another repair.
4. Screw it again: put your original screw into the anchor and tighten it securely.

Important notes
Follow the pack instructions carefully, especially the snap step, so the anchor ends up at the right size for your screw. Screws are not included. This anchor is designed for wood-based materials. For concrete, brick or tile, use a masonry anchor instead. There is no glue involved, so there is no cure time to wait for.
