Description
Selleys BBQ Tough Grease & Grime Cleaner is a fast-acting spray made for the quick clean-up that keeps a barbecue in good shape. It lifts cooking grease, baked-on food and general grime from hotplates and grills so the cooking surface stays clean and hygienic, without the hard scrubbing a wire brush needs. The 500mL trigger bottle sprays an even coat straight onto the surface and is ready to use with no mixing or dilution.
Formula overview
The cleaner uses a surfactant-based, non-caustic formula, so it powers through fat and oily build-up while being easier to handle than harsh caustic products. It goes to work in two to three minutes, loosening the grease so it wipes away instead of needing to be scoured off. Because it is water based, any residue rinses and wipes off easily with a damp cloth.
Where to use it
Outdoors: BBQ hotplates, grills and racks are the main job, ideal as an after-cook clean while the plate is still slightly warm. It also works well on outdoor furniture and many other outdoor surfaces where grease and grime gather.
Indoors: the same grease-cutting action can help on other greasy cooking-area surfaces, as long as they are not on the unsuitable list below. The product is formulated first and foremost for barbecue and exterior clean-up.
How to use
- Warm the hotplate or grill slightly, then turn the BBQ off and check it is cool enough to touch.
- Spray directly onto the surface.
- Leave for two to three minutes so the formula can break down the grease.
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth or a Selleys BBQ Tough Wipe, then wipe again with a clean cloth to remove any residue.
For heavier build-up, spray on and scrub lightly before wiping off. Cleaning each time you barbecue helps stop stubborn grime from forming.
Important notes
- Do not use on BBQ decals, prints, signs, dial marks or clear plastics.
- Wipe off brass and painted surfaces straight away.
- Spot test on an inconspicuous area if you are unsure about a surface.
- Keep out of reach of children.

Safety
According to the manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet, this product is classified as hazardous under Safe Work Australia criteria, with the signal word Warning. It can cause skin irritation and serious eye irritation and is harmful to aquatic life. Wear protective gloves and eye protection, wash your hands thoroughly after use, and avoid releasing it to the environment. If it contacts skin, wash with plenty of soap and water. If it gets in eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if present and easy to do, and keep rinsing; get medical advice if irritation persists. Keep out of reach of children and read the label before use. The product is not classified as a Dangerous Good for transport by road, rail, sea or air. If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre (Australia 13 11 26).
