Description
Selleys Flexiseal Clear is a premium, crystal-clear multipurpose elastic joint sealant for DIYers and tradies who want a flexible, weather-tough seal that stays discreet. Supplied in a 290ml cartridge, it handles everyday sealing jobs indoors and out, and it can be applied to damp or wet surfaces without a primer.
About the formula
Built on Selleys hybrid technology (a moisture-curing silyl-modified polymer), this sealant has a low modulus, non-slumping body that stays put in joints up to 20mm wide. It cures to a strong, elastic, waterproof seal that resists UV and weathering and keeps its clear finish. It is free from solvents and isocyanates, has a low odour, and meets Green Building Council of Australia low VOC limits for general purpose and architectural sealants. Once cured it can be painted with water-based paints.
Where to use it
Indoors: gaps and joints around windows, doors, skirtings, trims and fittings where a clear, flexible seal is wanted.
Outdoors: vertical and horizontal joints in exterior cladding, around frames and between common building materials exposed to sun and rain.
Suitable materials include concrete, timber, metals, cement sheeting, brick, plaster, ceramic tiles and glass, along with most other common building surfaces. Test first on painted surfaces and any unusual materials.
How to use it
Clean the joint and remove dust, grease and other contaminants, and degrease metal surfaces. Cut the nozzle at an angle, slightly wider than the joint, and load the cartridge into a caulking gun. Use a suitable backing rod to control depth where needed. Gun the sealant into the joint and tool it off promptly so it makes good contact with both sides. Remove excess uncured sealant with a damp cloth. Paint with water-based paints once the surface has skinned or cured.
Important notes
Not suitable for polyethylene, polypropylene or Teflon (PTFE). Not intended for permanent water immersion. Application is best between 5°C and 35°C. Cure time depends on temperature, humidity and joint depth, so allow enough time before putting the joint under stress or exposing it to water.
