Selleys Liquid Nails Construction Adhesive 320g (20 Pack)

Description

Selleys Liquid Nails Original is the go-to multipurpose construction adhesive for builders and DIYers, supplied here as a bulk 20 pack of 320g cartridges for busy sites, workshops and anyone who wants to stock the ute. It forms a strong, long-lasting bond across most common building materials and stays flexible enough to cope with the shrinkage and thermal movement that can weaken rigid bonds over time.

About the formula
A solvent-based adhesive with a firm body that is designed not to drip, sag or string, so jobs stay tidier. It bonds to both wet and dry timber, bridges gaps on rough or ill-fitting materials, extrudes easily in cooler conditions and can be painted once dry. It is water and weather resistant and meets Australian Standard AS 2329 (1999).

Where to use it
Indoors: panelling, wallboard and plasterboard to timber or metal frames, skirtings, architraves, timber battens, MDF and particleboard fixing.
Outdoors: timber to timber, timber or sheeting to masonry, concrete and brick surfaces, and general weather-exposed building and repair jobs.

Suitable materials include timber, plasterboard, MDF, particleboard, masonry, concrete, tiles, ceramics, metals, rubber and glass. Most plastics can be bonded, but test a small area first to check compatibility.

How to use it
Make sure surfaces are free of oil, grease and dust, and wipe any pooled water off wet timber. Cut the cartridge tip, fit the nozzle and cut it to a opening of about 5mm. Apply a bead along the length of the joist, stud or batten, or run beads about every 40cm on broad flat surfaces. Press the pieces firmly together and fix with enough nails, screws or clamping to carry the load and keep contact across the whole bond area. The adhesive stays repositionable for up to about 20 minutes after fitting. For a faster initial grab, apply to one surface only, let it dry briefly, then press together. Leave to set for at least 24 hours before removing temporary fasteners or clamps. Clean uncured adhesive with mineral turpentine; cured adhesive must be scraped or sanded off.

Important notes
A strong bond usually develops within 24 hours and keeps building over 2 to 3 days, with full cure in about 7 days. Allow longer for thick applications, less porous surfaces and cold weather. For high-stress applications, use with mechanical fasteners. Not suitable for polyethylene, polypropylene, Teflon, silicone or polystyrene foam, and not for permanent water immersion. Not intended for mirrors; use a dedicated mirror adhesive for those jobs.
