Description
Selleys Liquid Nails VP30 Primer is a rapid-curing, water-based priming concentrate designed as a bridging primer in the Liquid Nails timber flooring system, supplied here in a 1L pack. It is used on concrete slabs and other porous or non-porous surfaces before levelling compounds or flooring adhesives go on, and it flashes off in about 30 minutes so the next stage of the job can start quickly.
About the formula
A water-based hybrid polymer primer that is low in VOCs and low in odour. It changes colour as it dries, going on pink and turning red when dry, so you can see at a glance when a coat is ready. Once cured it will not re-emulsify in water, and tools and splatter can be cleaned up with water before the primer cures.
Where to use it
Indoors: as a bridging primer between Selleys VBS or VBS Rapid moisture barrier and self-levelling compound on concrete slabs, or to prime concrete before self-levelling compound is poured as part of a timber flooring installation.
Outdoors: not intended for outdoor use. It is an interior product.
Suitable for clean, sound concrete slabs and other porous or non-porous surfaces that will be topped with adhesives or floor skimming and levelling compounds. Check compatibility with your chosen flooring products before starting.
How to use it
Start with a clean, sound, dust-free surface and stir the primer well before use. Cut in the edges with a brush, then apply with a roller, brush or broom. Allow for roughly 6 to 10 m² per litre, depending on how porous the surface is. Leave a continuous film on the surface so the next layer bonds properly. Pour the primer out onto the floor rather than leaving it in the container, which keeps it cool and gives you more working time. Make sure the primer has dried clear and can be walked on without tackiness before pouring self-levelling compound. Good ventilation helps it cure faster. Clean up with water before the primer cures.
Important notes
Cure time is about 30 minutes, depending on conditions. Very porous concrete or slabs with high moisture content may need a second coat. If the coating soaks away or you see dull patches or pinholes, apply another coat once the first has cured. If you are priming over a moisture barrier, make sure it is fully cured first. Do not apply over dusty or contaminated surfaces, and do not use on surfaces that are subject to standing water. Brushes and rollers are best discarded after use.

Safety
Use with normal care: work in a well-ventilated area, avoid contact with eyes and skin, and wear gloves and safety glasses. If product gets on skin, wash with plenty of soap and water, and if it gets in eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Keep out of reach of children and store in a cool, dry place with the lid sealed. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
