Description
Selleys Plastic Wood is a fast-setting, solvent-based wood filling cement for repairing holes, dents and chips in interior timber, supplied here in a 230g maple-coloured tin. It is a simple fix for furniture, skirting, architraves and other indoor joinery, and once set it can be worked much like the timber around it.
About the formula
A solvent-based paste containing natural wood fibres, finished in a maple (tan) colour. It dries quickly to a hard finish that holds up to sanding, nailing and planing. Once dry it can be stained, varnished, painted or lacquered, so the repair can be finished in the same way as the surrounding wood. It is a rigid filler, so it is not designed for joints that move.
Where to use it
Indoors: filling nail holes, dents, chips and small cracks in furniture, doors, window frames, skirting boards, architraves and other interior woodwork.
Outdoors: not recommended. The manufacturer rates this product for interior use only.
Suitable materials include natural timber and wood veneer.
How to use it
Stir the product thoroughly before use. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of loose material. Press the filler in with a putty knife and slightly overfill deeper holes so there is room to sand back flush. Do not fill deeper than 6mm in a single application. Let it dry fully before sanding, staining, painting or lacquering. Wipe the putty knife clean with methylated spirits. Press the lid on firmly after use and store the tin somewhere cool.
Important notes
Not suitable for exterior use. Not recommended where structural movement may occur, so use a flexible product for joints and gaps between surfaces. Work in a well-ventilated area. Colour is maple only, so test a small area first if you need to match a different timber tone, or plan to stain or paint over the repair.

It can irritate skin and eyes, and the vapours may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Use only in a well-ventilated area and avoid breathing vapours.
