Selleys Tradie's Bog Two Part Polyester Building Filler 550g

Description

Selleys Tradie's Bog is a fast-setting, two part polyester building filler for repairing timber and most common building materials, supplied here in a 550g pack. It is built for quick, hard-wearing repairs where a lightweight filler would not hold up, and it can be sawn, drilled, sanded and painted once set.

About the formula
A cream polyester resin paste that you mix with the supplied hardener to start the cure. It grips well to a wide range of building surfaces and sets hard in around 20 minutes, with minimal shrinkage, so you can shape it, sand it and move on to painting quickly. The cream base can be tinted with cement oxides or paint tinters if you add the colour before the hardener.

Where to use it
Indoors: repairing window and door frames, architraves, skirting boards and sashes, and filling holes, cracks and damaged edges in timber and plasterboard.
Outdoors: patching external timber joinery, masonry, concrete and metal, then finishing with a suitable paint system.

Suitable materials include timber, plasterboard, concrete, brick, fibreglass, metal, alloy, tiles and ceramics.

How to use it
Make sure the area to be repaired is clean, dry, unpainted and free of oil and grease. Stir the bog before use, then work out a short ribbon of hardener (about 2.5cm for every heaped tablespoon, or roughly 20g, of bog) and mix thoroughly on a clean surface until the colour is even. Press the mix into the repair with a spatula and overfill slightly. For dents in steel or aluminium that will see heavy vibration, punching or drilling the metal first gives the filler a better key. Shape off the excess with a Surform or rasp before it goes rock hard, then use ordinary files or sandpaper once fully set. Clean tools with mineral turpentine before the product cures.

Important notes
Working time is about 5 minutes at 23°C, so mix only what you can apply straight away. The filler is rigid, so it is not suited to joints or areas where movement is expected, nor to areas under constant water immersion. It will not bond to polyethylene, polypropylene or PTFE (Teflon). Colour must be added before the hardener. The filler can be painted once cured.
