Sika SikaBond-142 Instant Nails Construction Adhesive 300g (6 Pack)

Description

SikaBond-142 Instant Nails is a high strength, multipurpose construction adhesive that holds its place on vertical surfaces, supplied here as a trade pack of six 300g cartridges. It works as a one-way liquid adhesive or as a two-way contact adhesive, so it suits quick panel fixing as well as bonding jobs where you want an immediate grab.

About the formula
A one-component, ready-to-use synthetic rubber dispersion in a beige, non-slump paste. The bead stays put on walls and ceilings instead of sagging, skins over within about 1 to 5 minutes and dries quickly. The Sika data sheet reports tensile strength above 1 MPa on a dry substrate (tested to AS 2329) and peel adhesion above 40 N. Once cured, it can be painted over.

Where to use it
Indoors: floor and wall panels, skirting and trim, and panelling fixed to timber or metal backing.
Outdoors: Sika does not list exterior use on its data sheet, so check suitability for your application before using it outside. It is not suitable for permanently immersed applications.

Suitable materials include timber, particleboard, MDF, plywood and plasterboard, aluminium, iron and steel, and concrete, cement sheeting, fibreglass and masonry.

How to use it
Surfaces should be clean, sound and dry, with oil, grease, dust and loose flaking material removed. Light abrasion helps adhesion. Load a cartridge into a standard caulking gun and apply a bead. For one-way use, press the panel into place. For two-way contact bonding, coat both surfaces, allow the adhesive to skin over, then press together firmly. Apply only when the surface temperature is between 5°C and 40°C.

Important notes
Full cure takes about 7 days, depending on weather conditions. Do not apply below 5°C, and do not use on damp, unseasoned or treated timber. Service temperature range is 0°C to 40°C. Not suitable for immersed applications. Test on an offcut first if you are unsure about a surface.
