Description
Soudal Bathroom & Kitchen Neutral Cure Silicone in clear is a pure silicone sanitary sealant for wet areas, supplied as a 300ml cartridge for use in a standard caulking gun. It is built for the joints that take the most punishment around showers, baths, sinks and benchtops, giving a waterproof seal that stays flexible and resists mould and mildew.
About the formula
A neutral cure, non-corrosive silicone made from pure silicone with no extenders. It contains fungicides to help the seal resist mould and mildew in demanding sanitary conditions. It is easy to apply and tool, has a longer working time for smoothing joints, and stays permanently elastic once cured. The cured seal is colourfast and UV resistant, with a low modulus and a joint movement capability of +/- 25%.
Where to use it
Indoors: joints around bathtubs, vanities, shower screens, sinks, basins and toilets, kitchen splashbacks and benchtop joints, and sealing around plumbing fixtures in kitchens, bathrooms and laundries.
Outdoors: not specifically recommended by the manufacturer for this product. Check the manufacturer data sheet or choose a product made for exterior use.
Suitable materials include glass, tiles, fibreglass, vitreous enamel and many other common building and sanitary surfaces. Test an inconspicuous area first on any surface you are unsure about.
How to use it
Make sure the joint is clean, dry and free of dust, grease, soap scum and old sealant. Cut the nozzle to suit the joint, load the cartridge into a caulking gun and apply a steady, continuous bead. Smooth the bead with a profiling tool or a soapy water solution before the surface skins over, then remove any masking tape. Wipe away uncured excess promptly. Once cured, silicone has to be cut or scraped away.
Important notes
Cure time depends on temperature, humidity and bead thickness, so allow plenty of time before exposing the joint to water. Keep joints well ventilated while curing. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and test compatibility on sensitive materials before sealing.
