Description
The Stanley FatMax Retractable Utility Knife (10-778B) is a tough metal-bodied cutting tool for tradies and keen DIYers, supplied with a pouch and five FatMax blades so you can start cutting straight away. Its angled cutting position is well suited to flooring jobs, and the blade clamp and tool-free blade changes keep the work moving.
About the product
A yellow retractable utility knife with a metal body and a thumb pad for a more comfortable hold. A blade clamp steadies the blade for heavier cutting, while a built-in blade wiper clears debris from the blade as you work. Spare blades live inside the handle in an auto-rise storage holder that pops up a fresh blade when it is time to swap. The blade locks in place during use and retracts when you are finished.
Where to use it
Indoors: trimming flooring such as vinyl, carpet and underlay, cutting cardboard, packaging, plasterboard sheet and general fit-out materials.
Outdoors: general site and workshop cutting, such as sheet materials, membranes, tape and packaging.
How to use it
- Press the push-button blade door release to open the blade compartment and access the spare blades.
- Swap a blade without tools; the blade clamp holds it firmly once fitted.
- Extend the blade to the length you need and lock it before cutting.
- Use the blade wiper to remove dust and debris so cuts stay clean.
- Retract the blade and store spare blades in the handle when you are done.
- Includes: 1 knife, 5 FatMax blades and a pouch.
Important notes
Blades cannot be sharpened, so replace them once they go dull. Dull blades need more force and can slip, so change them early. Knives may only be sold to customers aged 18 years or over, and proof of age may be requested.

Care and storage
Always cut away from your body and keep your free hand clear of the cutting line. Retract the blade before putting the knife down or into the pouch, and take care when handling used or spare blades. Wipe off dust and debris after use and store the knife somewhere dry, out of reach of children.
