Description
The Sureguard Scarecrow 360 is a solar-powered, motion-activated animal deterrent that helps keep cats, dogs, foxes, possums and other unwelcome visitors out of your garden or yard without using chemicals. It combines flashing lights with ultrasonic sound and works in every direction around the unit, so animals are met by the deterrent whichever way they approach.
About the product
The Scarecrow 360 uses three repelling actions together. Blue Sentinel Lights flash through the night to warn animals off from a distance, and the manufacturer says they work at long range, up to about 200m. They mimic human activity, which can leave animals feeling unsettled and exposed. At closer range, motion sensors pick up the body heat of an approaching animal and trigger a burst of ultrasonic sound and bright white flashing lights. The white and blue lights flash in a combined pattern that gives an up and down motion effect, which animals tend to be wary of after dark. The ultrasonic sound is audible to animals but not to people or birds. The Blue Sentinel Light can be switched off if you prefer.
Where to use it
Indoors: not intended for indoor use, although an external 5V power inlet allows use undercover.
Outdoors: vegetable patches and garden beds, lawns, fence lines, chicken runs and yard entry points where cats, dogs, foxes, possums, wallabies, kangaroos, deer, rabbits or rodents are a problem. It can help stop cats marking and fighting, discourage destructive dog behaviour, protect plants from possums and deter foxes to help protect pets.
How to use it
- Push the metal ground spike into your lawn or garden to position the unit, and choose one of the four operating heights to suit the animals you are targeting.
- Select Night Only mode or 24 Hours mode, depending on when the problem occurs.
- The built-in solar panel tops up the internal lithium rechargeable battery, so the unit can run day and night. An external charging inlet is also provided.
- Place the unit so animals are likely to walk across the sensor's field of view. Detection works best on animals moving across the sensor rather than straight at it.
- Keep the unit away from foliage that moves in the wind, which may cause false triggering in daylight.
Important notes
The sensors respond to body heat, so they will not detect cold-blooded animals. Results vary with the animal and how motivated it is. For example, an animal that is hungry and feeding on your plants may take longer to respond, and a possum may stay away for a while and return when food is scarce. The manufacturer recommends not switching the unit off too soon, so animals learn the deterrent is always there. The Blue Sentinel Light is recommended where possible.

Care and storage
Position the unit where the solar panel gets good daylight so the battery stays charged. Wipe the unit clean with a soft, damp cloth when needed. If you remove it for a long period, store it somewhere dry and out of reach of children. Use the product only for its intended purpose and recycle the unit and battery responsibly at the end of their life.
