Description
The Sutton Tools H127 Carpenter Set is an eight-piece tungsten carbide tipped holesaw kit built for builders, installers and keen DIYers who need a good spread of sizes in one case. It covers everything from small cable and dowel holes through to large pipe and fitting holes, and the carbide teeth are designed to stay sharp and run cooler than conventional bi-metal holesaws.
About the product
Each holesaw has tungsten carbide tipped (TCT) teeth for strong cutting performance, long wear life and minimal heat build up. Sutton Tools states that the teeth cut timber up to five times faster than conventional bi-metal holesaws. Deep cut-outs in the saw body help the plug of waste material (the core) release quickly. The quick-release arbor lets you change saw sizes fast and also helps push the core out, so you spend more time cutting and less time swapping and clearing. The International Thread Pattern means the saws also fit standard arbors.
What is included
- 8 x TCT multi-purpose holesaws: 19mm, 22mm, 25mm, 32mm, 38mm, 54mm, 92mm and 102mm
- 1 x H122-Series quick-change arbor
- 2 x TCT pilot drill bits
- 1 x plastic storage case
Where to use it
Indoors: fitting door hardware and locks, running cables and pipework through frames and joinery, cutting holes in cabinets, shelving and panelling, and downlight or vent openings in plasterboard.
Outdoors: decking, fencing, framing and sheeting work where you need clean holes for fixings, conduit or pipes.
Suited to cutting timber, hardwood, softwood, MDF, plasterboard, compressed fibre cement sheet, cement sheet, plastics, ceramic tiles and other abrasive materials, to a cutting depth of 54mm.
How to use it
Fit the saw you need to the quick-release arbor, then install the arbor in your drill chuck with a pilot bit centred. Clamp or secure the workpiece, mark the centre of the hole and start at a moderate speed so the teeth bite cleanly. Let the saw do the work rather than forcing it, and back out now and then to clear dust and swarf on deeper cuts. When the cut is through, use the quick-release arbor to free the core and swap to the next size.
Important notes
Match drill speed to the material, with slower speeds for harder or more abrasive materials such as tile and fibre cement. Cutting depth is up to 54mm, so very thick material will need to be cut from both sides. Use a drill with enough torque for the larger 92mm and 102mm saws, and hold it firmly with both hands.

Care and storage
Wear safety glasses and hearing protection, and a dust mask when cutting plasterboard, fibre cement or tile. Keep hands clear of the saw while it is spinning, and let the teeth cool before handling. Clear dust from the saws after use and return them to the case. Store in a dry place and keep out of reach of children.
