Description
The Turbo Timber Rot Repair Kit is a two-step system for rescuing rotted or damaged timber, bundling a wood hardener and a rebuilding filler with the basic tools to apply and finish the repair. It suits window sills, frames, sashes, French doors, architraves, decks and fences, and is aimed at minor repair jobs where replacing the timber would cost far more.
About the formula
The kit pairs two products that are designed to work together. Turbo Rot Fix is a water-based, self-crosslinking emulsion: as the water evaporates, it triggers the resin to cure into a hard plastic that binds loose, rotted fibres back into a firm base. Turbo Builder's Bog is a trade-quality, two-part polyester filler that holds its shape on large fills without slumping, can be mixed to set faster or slower, and can be sanded, drilled and painted much like real timber. Because it cures chemically rather than drying, there are no solvents to evaporate away.
What is in the kit
- Turbo Rot Fix wood hardener, 250ml
- Turbo Builder's Bog timber repair filler, 500ml
- Putty knife
- Sanding block
Where to use it
Indoors: window sills, frames, sashes, architraves, door jambs and other painted joinery that has gone soft.
Outdoors: external window and door frames, French doors, decks, fences and outdoor furniture.
Designed for timber. Rot Fix can also act as a sealer ahead of other Turbo bogs on dusty or porous surfaces, but this kit is intended for timber repair.
How to use it
Cut away or scrape out loose, crumbling material and make sure the timber is clean and dry. Spray Rot Fix onto the affected area so it soaks into the soft fibres, then let it dry fully so it hardens and the surface turns firm. Mix Builder's Bog with its hardener according to the instructions on the tin, adjusting the ratio within the stated range to set fast or slow. Press it into the repair with the putty knife, building up the shape. You can trim or shape it while it is part-cured to save sanding time. Once set, sand smooth with the sanding block, then prime and paint as usual. Mix only what you can use before it sets, and wash tools promptly.
Important notes
Turbo describes Rot Fix as suited to cosmetic and weatherproofing repairs, not structural repairs, so do not rely on it to restore load-bearing strength. Apply to dry timber only, as moisture stops the product soaking in properly. Rot Fix gets sticky as it dries, so keep it away from children. Builder's Bog is a two-part system and needs its hardener to cure. Always follow the mixing directions on the pack.
