Description
Yates Possum Repellent Spray is a ready-to-use garden spray that discourages possums from browsing on your plants, supplied here in a 1L bottle for home gardens. It suits ornamental and edible plants alike, so you can protect roses, shrubs, vegies and fruit trees without mixing or measuring anything.
About the formula
The formulation was developed by Professor Lynne Selwood AO at the University of Melbourne and is protected by a patent. It combines pyrethrum, piperonyl butoxide and paraffin oil, and works by making sprayed foliage less appealing to possums rather than by harming them. Protection lasts for up to 7 days, or longer with regular re-treatment. There is only a 1 day withholding period on edible plants.
Where to use it
Indoors: not intended for indoor use.
Outdoors: garden beds, vegetable patches, seedlings, ornamental shrubs, roses, magnolias, camellias, citrus and other fruit trees.
Suitable for a wide range of garden plants. Plant varieties can differ in sensitivity, so test the spray on a few plants first to check how they respond.
How to use it
Shake the bottle well before use. Spray plants thoroughly, paying particular attention to new growth, which possums find most appealing. Apply in the late afternoon or early evening, because most possum activity happens at night. Reapply about every 7 days and after rain. The interval can be stretched as possum behaviour changes.
Important notes
Do not pick edible plants for 1 day after spraying. Avoid spraying when shade temperatures are around 30°C or higher, or when the soil is dry and plants are stressed by lack of moisture. Try not to spray flower petals directly, as they may become marked. Do not spray directly on people, pets, exposed food, food preparation areas or utensils. Cover fish tanks before spraying, and keep spray and empty containers away from drains, sewers, streams and ponds. Use only as directed on the label.

Safety
Use with normal care: avoid contact with eyes and skin, avoid breathing in spray mist, and wear gloves and eye protection when spraying. Wash your hands after use. Store the bottle closed, in its original container, in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children and pets. To dispose of an empty container, wrap it in paper, place it in a plastic bag and put it in the rubbish. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full details.
