DUNLOP®WALL TILE ADHESIVE is a ready-mixed indoor wall tile adhesive. Ideal for all types of ceramic wall tiles and dimensional stones such as marble and granite, it can be used on a number of surfaces which include compressed fibre-cement sheets, plasterboard, cement render and adequately prepared painted surfaces (oil-based paint only). DUNLOP®WALL TILE ADHESIVE has superior flexibility and high grab to support even the heaviest of wall tiles. SURFACE PREPARATION Surfaces must be consistently flat and firmly fixed. Clean off dust, oil, grease and all loose contaminating materials or coatings. Ensure surfaces are dry, with no residue or permanent dampness. Prime porous surfaces (e.g. fibre- cement sheets, cement render) with DUNLOP®PRIMER & ADDITIVE beforehand and allow to dry. Cement Render Allow to cure for at least 7 days. Render should have a wood float finish. Plasterboard There is no need to prime the cardboard surface. However, where sheets are joined, DUNLOP®PRIMER & ADDITIVE must be used over the base jointing compound. Do not use the topping compound in areas which are to be tiled. Compressed Fibre-Cement Sheets Remove surface dust with a damp sponge and prime with DUNLOP®PRIMER & ADDITIVE and allow to dry before tiling. Painted Surfaces Oil-based paint should be roughened mechanically and loose flaking paint should be removed. Ensure the paint is suitable for tiling over. Thoroughly remove water-based paints. Do not use paint stripper or solvents. Allow surface to dry after cleaning. MIXING No mixing required. APPLICATION As a general guide use a 6mm notch trowel to spread adhesive achieving a minimum 1mm bed thickness. Do not wet tiles before fixing. If backs of tiles are dusty clean with a damp sponge. Spread the adhesive with the notches running horizontally across the wall. Spread only one square metre at a time and ensure a skin has not developed on the adhesive before bedding tiles. Press and slide the tile into position ensuring the whole of the back of the tile is in good contact with the adhesive. Use tile spacers if desired to ensure even spacing. Remove any surplus adhesive on face of tile or between joints before it sets. Adjustment of tiles should be carried out within 60 minutes of laying (at 23°C and 50% humidity). COVERAGE DUNLOP®WALL TILE ADHESIVE will cover approximately 0.5m2per kg. Coverage will vary depending on the condition of the surface being tiled and application technique. DRYING TIME DUNLOP®WALL TILE ADHESIVE will dry in approximately 24 hours depending on ambient temperature, porosity of surface and tiles. MOVEMENT JOINTS Incorporate movement joints at 3.5m intervals and at internal corners. Any structural movement joints must be carried through to the face of the tiling, at junctions between different background material and at fixtures interrupting the tile surface. These joints should be about 6mm wide and and kept free from adhesive. They should be filled with a high quality flexible material e.g. DUNLOP®COLOURED SILICONE. GROUTING Wait until adhesive has set. This takes approximately 24 hours. Remove tile spacers and use DUNLOP®GROUT adding DUNLOP®PRIMER AND ADDITIVE to enhance colour, impart a degree of flexibility and reduce porosity and staining. It is specifically formulated to provide an extra-strong and flexible bond on contact. It resists heat and water. It also provides excellent adhesion to most natural and neoprene rubbers as well as a wide variety of porous and non-porous surfaces. It may be easily applied by brush or scraper giving a secure and lasting bond making it clean and economical to use. SURFACE PREPARATION Ensure all surfaces are clean and dry and free from all loose paint, dust, grease, oil and foreign materials. APPLICATION Tube (Blister Pack) Application 1. Unscrew cap and pierce and of the tube with the reverse end of the cap 2. Apply thin, even film to both surfaces to be glued 3. Leave until touch dry (approximately 5 to 15 minutes), then bring both surfaces together accurately 4. Take care to avoid the formation of air bubbles between surfaces 5. To ensure maximum adhesion, clamp or weigh down the entire surface or apply firm hand pressure evenly 6. Replace screw cap to keep the contents of tube airtight CLEANING To clean up tools, equipment and adhesive spills use Mineral Turpentine. Use Bostik Handy Wipe towels to remove adhesive from the skin. STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE Store in a cool dry place between 5°C and 30°C and out of direct sunlight. Keep away from sources of ignition. Work tube between fingers for several seconds to loosen contents. Cut the tip of the nozzle and squeeze to apply adhesive onto one surface. Immediately press parts firmly together. Bonds can be repositioned for up to 5 minutes. If adhesive surfaces form a skin no bond will form. The bond will usually have good strength after 24 hours and will continue to strengthen for a few days. Application Tips For long narrow attachments (e.g. skirting boards) apply one or two continuous beads. For larger flat areas use beads approximately 30cm apart. For small items (e.g. tiles) spots of adhesive may be used. Wipe away excess adhesive with a damp cloth. Dried adhesive is best removed by scraping. Limitations: Not suitable for permanently wet or damp areas. Not suitable for fixing mirrors. Use Selleys Liquid Nails Mirror Metal & Glass. *Not suitable for polyethylene and polypropylene. Use Selleys All Plastic Fix. Bonds are not water-resistant. Protect bonds from water penetration if used in exterior applications. Not resistant to strong acids and strong organic solvents. Do not apply below 10°C. When used near brass or copper, the immediate area of contact will discolour to a blue tone. Handy Tips At least one surface must be porous for effective bonding. If both surfaces are non-porous, drying time is greatly increased. Clamping may be necessary until adhesive dries. Wet, damp and cold weather will increase drying time Wipe away excess with a damp rag. Use temporary supports when bonding a heavy load - support until adhesive dries. Particularly on uneven or smooth or non-porous surfaces. Good for gap filling - i.e. sticking two rough surfaces together. All Fix Big Jobs may stain slightly and colour can be paler than the surrounding area, squeeze out should be wiped off if intending to stain. Clean Up Uncured product may be removed with water. Cured product can be removed by scraping.
