Tarzan’s Grip Multi-Purpose General Adhesive 250 g is a reliable versatile contact style adhesive for crafts and household fixes chosen for home repairs, trade work, and craft builds when you want a bond you can trust. Designed for Australian conditions, it balances strength, ease of use, and clean application so you can get professional results without special tools. The 250 g pack is ideal for general work and keeps neatly in a toolbox or caddy. Why choose Tarzan's Grip Grip for your next project Everyday jobs often involve mixed materials and imperfect surfaces. Tarzan’s Grip Multi-Purpose General Adhesive 250 g has been formulated to wet out well, grab quickly, and cure to a tough finish that resists movement and contact stress. It maintains bond integrity across common temperature swings and has dependable resistance to moisture and most household chemicals. Whether you are fixing, building, sealing, or assembling, this product gives you confidence from first squeeze through final set. Best for Bonding fabric, leather, and rubber General craft builds Light repairs around the home Suitable surfaces The adhesive works well on the following surface types when properly prepared: Leather and canvas Rubber trim Timber and some plastics Card and foam board Surface preparation Good preparation is the key to a long lasting repair. Remove loose material, dust, and grease. Wipe glossy areas with methylated spirits or an approved cleaner and allow to dry. On very smooth plastics and metals, lightly roughen with fine abrasive paper to give the adhesive a mechanical key. Dry fit parts first and mark alignment points so you can assemble accurately within the open time. If bonding porous materials, ensure both faces are dry and free of surface chalking. How to use Check fit and plan clamping. Do a trial run without adhesive so you know the order of steps. Apply a thin, continuous bead to one surface. For wide pieces, use a zig zag pattern to maximise wetting. Bring surfaces together within the stated open time of allow adhesive to tack before assembly as directed on pack. Reseat once if needed, then hold steady. Apply even pressure using clamps, tape, weights, or temporary fasteners. Avoid squeezing all adhesive out of the joint. Allow to cure undisturbed. Initial handling strength will develop as the adhesive sets, with a full cure reached based on the chemistry described below. Cure profile Forms a tough, flexible bond after solvent evaporation and cure. Press parts together firmly for best adhesion. Temperature and environmental performance Keep away from flames and high heat during application. Once cured, it resists typical temperatures. Avoid application to very cold, sweating, or waterlogged surfaces. For outdoor use protect fresh bonds from rain until the skin has formed and the core has progressed in cure. Once fully cured, the bond resists normal weathering, splash water, and intermittent UV exposure based on the substrate and paint systems used. Clean up and finishing Use appropriate solvent on uncured adhesive, working in a ventilated space. When cured, excess can be carefully trimmed or sanded. For painted finishes, allow the adhesive to fully cure before priming. Test paint on a small area to confirm compatibility and drying behaviour. Coverage guide Coverage varies with bead size, surface porosity, and technique. As a general guide, a 3 mm bead yields approximately 10 to 12 linear meters per 310 mL cartridge. Smaller packs scale proportionally. Gaps, rough edges, and highly absorbent materials will reduce coverage. Plan an extra margin for offcuts and practice passes. Tips for best results Work within the recommended open time so the adhesive can properly wet the surfaces. Use light clamping pressure to keep parts aligned while maintaining a film thickness for strength. For very porous substrates, apply a thin precoat as a primer layer and allow it to tack before final assembly. Keep joint lines clean by masking edges with painter tape and removing it before the adhesive skins. Where movement or vibration is expected, design the joint to share load across a large area. Troubleshooting Poor adhesion: Check for oil, release agents, or surface dust. Reclean and lightly abrade if necessary. Slow cure: Low temperature and low humidity extend cure time. Maintain moderate conditions for best results. Visible squeeze out: Wipe fresh material with a suitable solvent and a soft cloth. Once cured, trim carefully. Bond line prints through paint: Allow a full cure, then prime and apply thin coats of paint, allowing proper drying between coats. Storage and shelf life Replace cap after each use to reduce skinning. Store below 30 C. Always check the pack for a lot code and use by guidance. Reseal immediately after use and store upright. Dispose of empty containers responsibly. Safety Read the label before use. Wear gloves when handling uncured material. Provide ventilation in enclosed areas. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Keep out of reach of children and pets. If sensitivity occurs, stop use and seek advice. Do not ingest. First aid directions and detailed handling information are available on the package and the safety data sheet. Frequently asked questions Can I bond dissimilar materials? Yes, provided each surface is clean and sound. Differences in expansion are managed by the adhesive film thickness and the inherent flexibility after cure. Is clamping required? Light clamping improves alignment and final strength. Excessive pressure can starve the joint of adhesive which reduces performance. Is the bond water resistant? Once cured the bond resists splash water and routine humidity. For permanent immersion choose an adhesive designed for underwater service and follow the manufacturer guidance. Planning your job Measure twice and cut once. Dry assemble parts so you can confirm squareness and alignment before adhesive is involved. Keep rags, clamps, and spacers ready. If you are new to the product, test on offcuts to get a feel for bead size and squeeze out. A consistent 1 to 2 mm bond line is a good starting point for most rigid materials. Thicker lines help when surfaces are uneven. Avoid starving the joint by pressing too hard without giving the adhesive a place to reside. Responsible use Choose an adhesive that suits the materials and the environment the finished piece will face. If a joint will be submerged, carry structural loads, or be exposed to strong chemicals, check the technical data sheet for specific guidance. Many general purpose products are perfect for day to day work, while specialised tasks call for a system designed and tested for that environment. Using the right product first saves time, money, and rework. Aftercare and maintenance Adhesive joints are remarkably strong when used correctly. Design repairs so that routine loads are shared across a generous area. Where heavy vibration is present, pair the adhesive bond with appropriate mechanical fasteners. Keep cleaning chemicals mild, and avoid abrasive pads on visible joints. If a bond will be repainted, choose flexible paint where movement is expected, and keep edges sealed to prevent dirt tracking along the bond line. Recycling and disposal Allow empty containers to cure before disposal. Check local council guidance for recycling of plastics and metal cartridges. Never pour uncured product into drains or soil. Wipe tools on scrap material and let residue harden before placing in general waste. Smart handling keeps the workspace clean and reduces environmental impact.

  • Selleys Liquid Nails Fast Grab Construction Adhesive 420g - 3 Pack

Selleys Selleys Liquid Nails Fast Grab Construction Adhesive 420g - 3 Pack

In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

Liquid Nails Fast is a water-based, high-strength construction adhesive with fast grab and low odour. It has a thick, non-runny consistency and is ideal for adhering timbers and other porous construction materials. Once dry, it has a beige (light tan) finish. Uses Liquid Nails Fast has a high initial grab that reduces the need to support joins while the adhesive cures. The grab works best with porous surfaces. It bonds to a wide range of materials including MDF, particle board, timber, plasterboard, styrene foam, masonry, concrete, tiles, ceramics, metals, plastics*, rubber and glass. Faster results occur when at least one surface is porous. Typical applications include: Areas where nailing is not desirable Skirting boards, architraves, and cornices Wall panelling to masonry Styrene foam to metal roofing Technical Features Fast grab – high initial holding reduces slippage on vertical surfaces Complies with AS 2329-1999 (Mastic adhesives for fixing wall boards) Non-drip formula – does not sag or string between panels Bridges gaps and adheres to uneven surfaces Low mess – excess can be wiped away with a damp cloth No solvent fumes – ideal for indoor projects Flexible – withstands thermal movement and vibration Heat resistant – maintains bond strength under sunlight Paintable when dry Easy to extrude in all temperatures Application Tips Use in conjunction with permanent mechanical fasteners except for low-stress applications such as wall panelling or lightweight fixtures. Bonds are not water resistant – protect from water if used outdoors. Drying time is extended in cold or damp conditions and with non-porous materials. Thicker layers take longer to dry. Test plastics before use – adheres well to UPVC but not to polyethylene or polypropylene. For wood flooring, use solvent-based Liquid Nails instead. Satisfactory for fixing sheet flooring to joists with the manufacturer’s minimum nailing specification, but not recommended for bonding sheet flooring to existing or concrete floors. Technical Details & Performance Good bond strength after 24 hours on porous substrates; continues strengthening over 2–3 days. Appearance: Smooth beige paste, free from lumps and air bubbles Specific Gravity: Approx. 1.44 g/mL @ 25°C Viscosity: 7000–9000 Poise Slump: 0 mm (typical) Shear Adhesion Strength (7 days, AS2329): >1500 kPa (Hoop pine substrate) Peel Adhesion Strength (7 days cure): 40 N/25 mm (variant to AS2329) Initial Bond Strength (24 hrs): >200 kPa Heat Resistance: Withstands up to 140°C temporarily. Constant high temperatures may reduce load-holding power. Creep Resistance (under constant load):– At 80°C: holds 500 g (7.8 kPa) on 625 mm² bond area– At 25°C: holds 6 kg (100 kPa) on 625 mm² bond area Coverage Approximately 15 metres of a 5 mm diameter bead. Curing time increases with thicker bonds or larger bond areas. Data provided is indicative only and not for design use. Cleaning Clean with hot soapy water or a damp cloth while wet. Once dry, remove by scraping or peeling. *Always pre-test plastics for adhesion suitability.

Bond strength is greatest on porous surfaces such as timber, fabric, leather, paper, styrene foam, metal, wood and glass, even concrete, plaster, and fibro.  Prep MultiUse Adhesiveis also a suitable adhesive for non-porous surfaces such as steel, aluminum, brass, copper, ceramics, and glass. It will not re-emulsify nor dissolve if subject to water after drying like PVA’s. Prep MultiUse Adhesiveis a thicker emulsion than PVA’s so it doesn’t drip on vertical surfaces. It has greater bond strength on most surfaces. Prep MultiUse Adhesivemay also be diluted, for use as a ‘dust sealer or primer/sealer’ for concrete and masonry surfaces. It may be used diluted as a bonding agent between layers of concrete or in the mix.

  • Gorilla Tape Incredibly Strong Extra Thick Weather Resistant 32m x 48mm [Black]

Gorilla Gorilla Tape Incredibly Strong Extra Thick Weather Resistant 32m x 48mm [Black]

In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

Gorilla Tape has taken duct tape to a new level. Gorilla Tape's toughness surpasses ordinary tapes, making the list of uses virtually endless. Made with double thick adhesive, strong reinforced backing, and a tough all-weather shell, it’s the biggest, strongest, toughest thing ever to happen to tape. It sticks to rough and uneven surfaces, including wood, stone, stucco and brick, that ordinary tapes can't hold. To us, it’s made the way tape should be: The Toughest on Planet Earth. Directions Use like any other tape. Tear Gorilla Tape by hand or cut to size with a knife or scissors. Apply the tape carefully, smoothing out any pockets or rolls. That’s it. Enjoy the strength and durability of Gorilla Tape! Does freezing/thawing affect Gorilla Tape? No, if Gorilla Tape freezes, it will work just fine once it returns to room temperature. What temperature range does Gorilla Tape require? Gorilla Tape works best at temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For best results, always apply the tape at room temperature. How do I store Gorilla Tape? To retain adhesive quality, store Gorilla Tape in a cool, dry place. Keep out of direct sunlight. Try storing the tape vertically (rather than laying flat), on a hook or on wax paper. If you have multiple rolls, keep your excess supply wrapped until they’re needed. Can I remove Gorilla Tape? Gorilla Tape can be removed, but with some difficulty and it may leave some residue. To remove any excess residue, we recommend using the tape itself as a blotter. How do I use Gorilla Tape? Surfaces should be clean and dust-free. We recommend rubbing the tape into the surface. This will help achieve a better bond. Can it be used instead of electrical tape? Gorilla Tape should not be used as electrical tape. Will Gorilla Tape work on rough surfaces? Yes! Gorilla Tape is designed to stick to rough surfaces including wood, stucco, plaster, brick, metal and more. Gorilla Tape is manufactured with a highly concentrated rubber based adhesive – two to three times as thick as traditional duct tape. The result is a tape that fills gaps and penetrates rough surfaces. It is important to clean the surface and brush off any loose particles and dirt before applying Gorilla Tape. Who should buy Gorilla Tape? Anyone who wants a quality tape that will last longer and holds stronger. 1. Do-it-yourselfers who know their labour justifies the use of better tools and materials. 2. Professionals who know quality materials affect a business reputation. 3. The “just-give-me-the-best” kind of person – someone with demanding applications or where re-taping is difficult. Is Gorilla Tape waterproof? We’ve found that Gorilla Tape will last a lot longer than regular duct tapes when it comes in contact with moisture. Make sure the surface is dry before you apply the tape, and we’re sure you’ll find this out for yourself. Does Gorilla Tape use Gorilla Glue as the adhesive? No, they are two different adhesives. Gorilla Glue is a polyurethane glue and the adhesive used on Gorilla Tape has been specially formulated for tape. What’s the difference between Gorilla Tape and regular duct tape? We took ordinary duct tape and made it better. We made it twice as thick and we use 2 to 3 times the amount of rubber based adhesive.

  • Araldite Super Strenght Expoxy Adhesive Maximum Bond 35ml

Selleys Araldite Super Strenght Expoxy Adhesive Maximum Bond 35ml

Sold Out  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

A two part epoxy adhesive that bonds with maximum strength. Mixed product gels in 2 hours. Initial bonding is achieved in 6-8 hours with maximum bond strength strength after 3 days. Features Araldite is stronger than other glues due to the chemical reaction of the two parts Bonds a variety of surfaces Dries Clear Very Strong, durable bonding Very high water resistance (e.g. OK for fixing tiles around pool, but not below the water line. For this use Selleys Knead it Aqua) Forms a rigid, durable bond Can be used for gap filling (surfaces need not mate closely) Good chemical resistance Heat Resistant Clamping is recommended to achieve a stronger bond Not suitable for bonding plastics such as Polypropylene and Polyethylene Bond strength weakens above 80°C but strength is regained when temperature drops Where can this product be used? Load bearing repairs Gluing the head back on your hammer Fixing loose table or chair legs. Bonding solid pieces of Aluminium sheeting Bonding timber on your boat Repairing splits and cracks in Cricket bats Bonding fibreglass sheets Repairing Ski’s Fixing Dynabolts and metal rods into concrete What materials is this product suitable for? Glass Metal Wood Fabric Rigid Plastic – will not bond to Polyethylene or Polypropylene plastics Crystal Leather How to use this product Before applying the Araldite mixture, all surfaces MUST be thoroughly clean and dry. All traces of grease, rust paint, etc. should be removed. For best results smooth surfaces should be roughened by mechanical abrasion after solvent cleaning. Onto a clean, disposable surface (e.g. polyethylene or cardboard), dispense equal volumes of Part A and Part B. Thoroughly mix together with a spatula, nail or stick. When using the tubes it is essential to use the correct mixing ratio, i.e. 1 part each Apply adhesive immediately to both surfaces and press together. Clamping is necessary while bond sets over 6-8 hours. Scrape off excess adhesive and wipe mixing utensils immediately. When using tubes, Ensure correct caps are replaced on each tube or they will harden Handy tips For maximum working time, mix in small quantities. Large quantities accelerate the curing process and reduce working time. To extend product life replace caps immediately after use. Ensure you wipe excess from nozzle with a tissue dipped in acetone (or nail polish remover) before replacing cap. When using the tube variant, ensure you replace the correct cap on the correct tube. Placing the wrong cap on the wrong tube will cause the tube to harden. (lids and tubes are colour coded to help) Wipe off any uncured araldite with acetone or nail polish remover. To remove product after cure, mechanical action (scraping or sanding) is recommended. Since the product is chemically resistant solvent will NOT dissolve this product. To reposition the bond once cured, check that the item is heat resistant. If safe, heat the item slowly, e.g. in an oven, to at least 150oC. The product will soften and liquify slightly. Scrape off any excess then reposition the joint carefully using appropriate safety equipment. Allow the item to cool down in the correct position. The product will reharden once returned to room temperature. Clamping recommended for a stronger bond. For cleaning surfaces prior to application of adhesive, if the surface is porous, we would reccomend using Selleys Liquid Sugar Soap. If the surfact is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with Methylated Spirits. If there is old difficult to remove residue such as oold paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as Selleys Kwik Strip Smart. Ensure the surface is dry before applying the product.

Sold Out  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

PVA adhesive specially formulated for interior woodworking repairs and projects. White in colour, dries clear and cleans up easily with water. Features No mixing required – Ready to use straight from the pack Suitable for end grain gluing – won’t stain timber, white in colour, but dries clear. Non-toxic Dries Clear Cleans up with water Where can this product be used? School projects and craft Furniture repairs Repair a split trim Fix a broken photo frame Restoring furniture Fix a wobbly chair Gluing cupboard shelves for additional support Repairing a door frame or window Fix a wine rack Re-attach book cover/spine or repair torn bindings Fix a broken drawer Wooden toy repairs Craft projects Unsuitable for use on coated wallpaper overlaps eg vinyl Although Aquadhere is reasonably water resistant, it is not recommended for use in water or weather exposed situations or for any job where maximum water resistance is required (for weather exposed and/or wet areas we recommend Aquadhere exterior or Aquadhere Durabond). Will not take common timber stains Aquadhere is not recommended for joints that are subjected to constant high stress. Instead, use Selleys 308 High Stress wood glue. Do not use on projects that you need to be able to sand, as Aquadhere Interior is not sandable. Will not bond MDF, we recommend using Aquadhere Exterior What materials is this product suitable for? End grain gluing Craftwork Cloth Paper Mosaics Leather Other craft materials How to use this product Surfaces to be bonded must be close fitting, free from dust, dry and clean from grease. Shake bottle before use Apply adhesive liberally to one surface only, position surfaces and press together while still wet. Immediately clamp for 30 minutes for softwoods and 1 hour for hardwoods. Alternatively, low clamping pressures (50lbs/in2) can be used with softwoods; higher pressures are recommended for hardwoods (100 – 150lbs/in2). Do not stress joint for 12 hours. Wipe off excess adhesive while still wet with a damp cloth. If the wood is to be stained, any residual Aquadhere left on the timber surface may prevent the stain from taking to the wood. Maximum strength is achieved after 12 hours, but longer in cold, damp conditions, or when used on dense timbers. Cure slows significantly in humid, cold conditions. Clean all tools with water before adhesive is allowed to dry. If dry, soak in water until adhesive is soft. Handy tips 1L covers approx. 8m2 To fill small gaps, Aquadhere can be mixed with sawdust. Longer clamping times may be required for joints under high stress, or alternatively use Selleys 308 High Stress Wood Glue. Avoid contaminating Aquadhere with iron and steel, eg nails, etc. Aquadhere contaminated with rust (iron oxide) will stain brown/black in the presence of tannins in many woods. On very porous surfaces applying a thin layer to each side and allowing to soaking in before applying a second layer to one side only may result in a stronger bond Cured adhesive can be resoftened by prolonged contact with hot water or steam. Sanding isn’t an effective way to prepare for gluing, as it often leaves an uneven surface and may clog the timber which can stop the glue from penetrating and impact on your result. A straight router can be used to trim the edge, but be sure to only remove as much as required to obtain a suitable edge for gluing. If you are gluing over a larger surface, try using a small roller to aid in application. For cleaning surfaces prior to application of adhesive, if the surface is porous, we would recommend using SELLEYS Liquid Sugar Soap. If the surface is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with mineral turpentine and then again with methylated spirits. If there is old, difficult to remove residue such as old paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as SELLEYS Kwik Strip Smart. Ensure the surface is dry before applying the product. Keep a canister of SELLEYS Sugar Soap Wipes nearby for a quick and effective cleanup. Safety tips Aquadhere is considered a non-hazardous material. In case of eye contact, hold eye open and flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Storage and re-use For maximum shelf life store inside at moderate temperatures. Do not allow to freeze.

Apply an even bead or spread with a suitable trowel where required. Avoid trapping air. Press the materials together, ensuring full contact. For sheet goods, roll firmly to promote transfer and wetting. Support, clamp, or brace as needed until the adhesive develops sufficient handling strength. Cure and working time Activator accelerates set in seconds to minutes. Full strength develops over several hours. Cooler temperatures and high humidity will slow curing, while warmer, drier conditions accelerate it. Do not load or finish until the bond has developed adequate strength. Always follow best practice for ventilation and safe handling during cure. Coverage Coverage varies based on substrate profile, bead size, and installation method. As a guide, a 300 ml cartridge with a 6 mm round bead can lay several linear meters. For trowel applied adhesives, a notched trowel pattern will influence yield. Plan to have extra on hand for porous or uneven surfaces. Limitations Do not apply to surfaces that are visibly wet unless the product specifically allows damp application. Avoid continuous water immersion unless the product is rated for that exposure. Not all plastics are compatible; test on polypropylene, polyethylene, and PTFE if required. Observe maximum service temperature and any movement or vibration limits appropriate to the application. Clean up Remove overspray and uncured adhesive with suitable solvent. Use carefully to avoid staining. Always read the product label and follow local regulations for disposal of leftover material and containers. Safety Read the label before use and keep out of reach of children. Use in a well ventilated area. Wear protective gloves and eye protection. If on skin, wash with soap and water. If in eyes, rinse cautiously and seek medical advice if irritation persists. Do not ingest. Refer to the product Safety Data Sheet for detailed information. Storage Store upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the cap or nozzle tightly closed when not in use. Do not allow to freeze unless the product literature states it is freeze-thaw stable. Rotate stock to use older product first. Troubleshooting Poor adhesion: Check surface prep, remove contaminants, and reapply with firm pressure. Slow cure: Verify temperature and humidity. Increase airflow or allow more time. Excess squeeze-out: Reduce bead size or spread more evenly. Clean residue before it skins. Frequently asked questions Can I paint over it? Many adhesives can be overcoated once cured. • Packshot of Boyle Mosaic Craft Adhesive Glue Paste 120 g

Boyle Boyle Mosaic Craft Adhesive Glue Paste 120 g

In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

Boyle Mosaic Craft Adhesive Glue Paste 120 g is a reliable ready to use craft adhesive paste for mosaic and small decor pieces chosen for home repairs, trade work, and craft builds when you want a bond you can trust. Designed for Australian conditions, it balances strength, ease of use, and clean application so you can get professional results without special tools. The 120 g pack is ideal for general work and keeps neatly in a toolbox or caddy. Why choose Boyle Mosaic for your next project Everyday jobs often involve mixed materials and imperfect surfaces. Boyle Mosaic Craft Adhesive Glue Paste 120 g has been formulated to wet out well, grab quickly, and cure to a tough finish that resists movement and contact stress. It maintains bond integrity across common temperature swings and has dependable resistance to moisture and most household chemicals. Whether you are fixing, building, sealing, or assembling, this product gives you confidence from first squeeze through final set. Best for Mounting glass tesserae and small tiles to bases Decorating frames, pots, and plaques Craft classes and school projects Suitable surfaces The adhesive works well on the following surface types when properly prepared: Terracotta and ceramic bases Primed timber Card and board Glass and stone pieces Surface preparation Good preparation is the key to a long lasting repair. Bring surfaces together within the stated open time of workable for extended craft sessions. Cure profile Initial grab holds pieces in place while you continue working. Allow to dry fully before grouting or moving finished items. Temperature and environmental performance Use in dry indoor conditions for best results. Clean up and finishing Wipe away fresh squeeze out with a damp cloth. Wash brushes in warm soapy water. Storage and shelf life Close lid firmly after use to prevent skinning. Store at room temperature.

Surface treatment depends on the substrate and is crucial for durability. Refer to the current Sika® Pre-treatment Chart for Marine Applications and verify with tests on original substrates. Application Process between 5 °C and 40 °C; reactivity and handling change with temperature and humidity. Optimum substrate and product temperature is 15 – 25 °C. Apply with hand, pneumatic, or electric piston guns, or suitable pump equipment. Tooling & Finishing Tool within the skin time. Recommended finishing agent: Sika® Tooling Agent N (test any alternative agent for suitability). Cleaning & Removal Uncured material: remove from tools/equipment with Sika® Remover-208 or a suitable solvent. Cured material: remove mechanically (e.g. knife, wire, abrasion). Skin/hands: clean immediately with Sika® Cleaner-350H towels or an appropriate industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on skin. Overpainting Best painted after skin formation; performance can be improved by treating the joint surface with Sika® Aktivator-100 or Sika® Aktivator-205 before painting. If the paint requires baking > 80 °C, allow the sealant to fully cure first. Always conduct preliminary trials under manufacturing conditions. Avoid using enamel, alkyd, and chlorinated rubber paints on the joint area. Compliance & Approvals Meets requirements set out by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Associated with the marine “Wheelmark” conformity mark under the Marine Equipment Directive (MED) where applicable. FAQs Can Sikaflex®-291 be overpainted? Yes, once cured and after preliminary testing for compatibility. Note that paint elasticity is usually lower than the sealant’s and may crack over the joint. Enamel, alkyd, and chlorinated rubber paints should not be used on the joint area. What is a “marine grade” sealant/adhesive? Sika’s marine range is designed for flexible, waterproof, and durable assemblies across vessels from small yachts to large ships, for maintenance and construction tasks above and below the waterline. When and why should a primer be used? Primers promote adhesion on certain substrates. Sika® Primer-210 is commonly used prior to applying 1-component polyurethanes like Sikaflex®-291. Always confirm with testing. What does the Wheelmark indicate? The Wheelmark symbolizes conformity with marine equipment standards under the EU Marine Equipment Directive (MED). Which substrates does Sikaflex®-291 bond to? Wood; metals, metal primers and 2-C paint systems; ceramics; and plastics such as GRP. Avoid plastics prone to stress cracking (e.g. acrylic/Plexiglas®, polycarbonate). How do I remove Sikaflex®-291? Uncured: Sika® Hand Wipes or Sika® Remover-208 for tools/surfaces. Cured: mechanical methods (knife, wire, abrasion). Remover-208 will not remove cured material. Important: Information above is based on typical data. Performance depends on substrate, preparation, joint design, and application conditions. Conduct on-site tests to verify suitability. Always consult the latest Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
