How do I fill gaps between my wooden window frames and inside wall? A. You're dealing with two different materials here, plaster and wood. To allow for differential movement between them, use Polyfilla Gap Filler, wiping off any excess with a damp cloth. Q. I painted over the areas where I used Polyfilla Gap Filler and now cracks have appeared. Why has this happened? A. If the gap filler was not cured sufficiently before it was painted over, cracks can occur as the gap filler shrinks. To prevent this, allow 48 hours drying time when you are filling large gaps or painting with oil-based paints. Also, some water based undercoats and paints shrink during drying and as Polyfilla Gap Filler is flexible, it won't stop cracks appearing in the shrinking paint on its surface. Test the paint on a small section of gap filler and if this is a problem you can reduce cracking by allowing the filler to cure thoroughly or by first coating it with a vinyl/acrylic semi-gloss or oil-based undercoat. Q. Why does my gap filler keeps cracking? A. It is important to remember that the width of a gap affects how much the product can move. Fine cracks less than 2mm allow the gap filler to move only very tiny amounts before it may crack again. It is best to ensure that you have at least 3mm worth of product so you can maximise the movement capability of your joint.

Directions for Fixing Wood Floors: 1.Locate problem areas by tapping with wooden dowel, broom handle or similar, mark perimeter with chalk or painters’ tape. 2.Inside the marked area use a 9/64" drill bit and drill at least 1 hole on each end of problem floorboard(s), larger areas may require additional holes. Vacuum over each hole to clear debris. 3.Pull cap off tip and unscrew the tip to pierce a large hole using an awl or similar into the top of the threaded tube. If needed poke hole with awl through tip to clear, screw tip back on tube. 4.Using a quality caulk gun begin filling Fix-A-Floor into each drilled hole. Once adhesive spills up and out of nearby hole(s) this ensures complete coverage. Place finger over tip to avoid spillage when moving between holes. 5.Once filled, wipe clean with damp rag/sponge, and allow to cure for 24 hours before filling holes. Visit your local flooring/home improvement store to locate matching wood putty/filler and fill holes. For any excess residue please use mineral spirits to wipe clean. Your Floor is FIXED!

If this does not happen move to another hole and continue to fill, the adhesive is still travelling under the floor. If you see the adhesive coming back up out of the hole you are filling, be sure you are NOT pressing the tip of the tube down onto the subfloor. Q: What if the adhesive is clumpy or not flowing out of the tube properly? A: The adhesive in the tube has frozen either in transit during the cold winter months this can happen.
