Kwik Grip Advanced can be used as wet bond on absorbent surfaces such as timber, cardboard etc. Contact bonding: 1 Ensure surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry and free from dirt, grease, dust or particles. 2 Using applicator provided with pack, completely cover both surfaces with adhesive and keep surfaces apart until the surface turns from white to clear – approx. 20 minutes. Tip: use dowels or something similar to keep surfaces apart 3 Position the items carefully, still keeping surfaces apart. When edges are perfectly aligned, remove dowels and working from one edge press surfaces firmly together. Note: Grabs IMMEDIATELY on contact. 4 Secure bond by running a roller over the bonded surfaces or by hammering the surface from the centre outwards using a padded block. Maximum Bond strength is achieved after 24 hours. Note: Drying time may be extended in cold and wet weather conditions. Wet bonding: Ensure surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry and free from dirt, grease, dust or particles. Apply to one surface then bring surfaces together and clamp until dry. Clean up application tools and excess adhesive with damp cloth & water before it dries. Handy tips What is a contact adhesive? A contact adhesive is an adhesive that must be applied to two surfaces and allowed to dry before surfaces are joined. Once surfaces are pushed together an instant bond forms. Therefore extended pressure or clamping is unnecessary (*Clamping of warped or curled surfaces may be required) Being Low VOC/low odour this product is much safer for use indoors than most other contact adhesives which tend to be solvent-based.. Can be used on horizontal or vertical surfaces In the event of prolonged open time, Kwik Grip Advanced will continue to give good contact bond for up to 8 hours. What does this mean? This means that once you have applied the adhesive, if you suddenly need to run out to the shops or go and do another job, you can safely come back within 8 hours and join the two surfaces for a great result! Many solvent-based contact adhesives have a much shorter open time limit.

  A heat resistant, solvent-based, flexible contact adhesive suitable for bonding both absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces. It forms an instant bond on contact of two surfaces. Test in an inconspicuous area prior to application. Seek the advice of vinyl flooring manufacturers prior to use with their products as discolouration and bubbling can occur with some types. If in doubt, Kwik Grip Advanced is safe to use for all these applications and will provide excellent bonding. Contains highly flammable solvents and care should be taken to ensure all fire precautions are observed. As an alternative, Kwik Grip Advanced is non-flammable. Not suitable for bonding rough, ill-fitting surfaces. (Consider the suitability of alternative products such as Liquid Nails for these applications). What materials is this product suitable for? Cork Rubber Felt Canvas Leather Metals Timber Laminated plastics (laminex, formica) Hardboard Compressed board How to use this product: When bonding laminated plastics, ensure that surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry and free from grease or paint. Surfaces to be bonded should be relatively smooth and/or close fitting. Both surfaces should be completely covered with adhesive and kept apart till “touch dry” – no more than 40 minutes. Position the items carefully, still keeping surfaces apart. Remember once joined they cannot be repositioned. When edges are perfectly aligned, press surfaces firmly together. Secure bond by running a roller over the bonded surfaces or else by hammering the surface from the centre outwards using a padded block. For bonding other materials, apply as for laminated plastics above. When small surface areas are to be joined a wet bond may be used. Simply apply Kwik Grip Solvent to one surface then bring the surfaces together and clamp until dry. Handy tips: -Care should be taken to test plastics prior to use as solvents present will attack some polystyrene and sheet vinyls. -Up to 5sq.m/litre (bonded area 2.5sq.m/litre) depending on the porosity of surfaces. -For vertical surfaces, we recommend using SELLEYS Kwik Grip Gel Vertical. -For applications in confined or low ventilation areas eg car interior, we recommend using SELLEYS Kwik Grip Waterbased, as it is non-toxic and free of fumes. -Use a brush, knife or serrated scraper for application. -When using the contact method REMEMBER bonding is immediate once the two surfaces are joined. -Keep container sealed when not in use. -For cleaning surfaces prior to application of adhesive, if the surface is porous, we would recommend using SELLEYS Liquid Sugar Soap. If the surface is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with mineral turpentine and then again with methylated spirits. If there is old, difficult to remove residue such as old paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as SELLEYS Kwik Strip Smart. Ensure the surface is dry before applying the product. -While wet, adhesive can be removed using mineral turps. Cured adhesive is very difficult to remove. Tools and other equipment on which Kwik Grip Horizontal has dried may be cleaned by soaking in Toluol or lacquer thinner. Excess adhesive on the face of the jointed materials may also be removed with solvent, but care should be taken that the materials themselves are not damaged by the solvent. -Keep a canister of SELLEYS Sugar Soap Wipes nearby for a quick and effective cleanup. Safetytips: -Ensure thorough ventilation when using. Avoid using in a confined space for prolonged periods. We recommend you use Kwik Grip Waterbased in these circumstances. -Highly flammable. Tear – carefully along perforations. Squeeze – bubbles to extrude adhesive. Mix – two parts together until well combined. Apply – mixed adhesive to surfaces and bring together. Wipe off excess adhesive and do not apply undue strain to bond for 30 minutes. Handy tips For maximum working time, mix in small quantities. Large quantities accelerate the curing process and reduce working time. To extend product life replace caps immediately after use. Ensure you wipe excess from nozzle with a tissue dipped in acetone (or nail polish remover) before replacing the caps. When using the tube variant, ensure you replace the correct cap on the correct tube. Placing the wrong cap on the wrong tube will cause the tube to harden. Thoroughly mix together with a spatula, nail or stick. When using the tubes it is essential to use the correct mixing ratio, i.e. 1 part each -Apply adhesive immediately to both surfaces and press together. Clamping is not necessary, but allow the bond to remain undisturbed for at least 20 minutes. Scrape off excess adhesive and wipe mixing utensils immediately. -When using tube kit, ensure correct caps are replaced on each tube or they will adhere. Handy tips: -A useful solvent to clean up epoxy and polyester resins BEFORE they are cured can be prepared by mixing 2 parts toluene with 1 part alcohol (eg methylated spirits or denatured alcohol). -Clamping is recommended for a stronger bond. -For a maximum working time, mix in small quantities. Large quantities accelerate the curing process and reduce working time. -To extend product life replace caps immediately after use. -When using the tube variant, ensure you replace the correct cap on the correct tube. (lids and tubes are colour coded to help) -Wipe off any uncured Araldite with acetone or nail polish remover. -To remove product after cure, mechanical action (scraping or sanding) is recommended. Since the product is chemically resistant solvent will NOT dissolve this product. -To reposition the bond once cured, check that the item is heat resistant. If safe, heat the item slowly, e.g. in an oven, to at least 150oC. The product grabs within 2-30 seconds, depending on environmental conditions and materials to be bonded. Allow 30 minutes for sufficient bond strength for practical use. Handy tips Supa Glue can create a white residue on the surface of a material if the area is not well ventilated. Clean the affected area with acetone (most nail polish removers) to remove residue. Excellent when used with other adhesives, as the temporary tack. For best results, ensure surfaces to be bonded are clean, free of dust, dry and close fitting. After use, wipe excess product from the nozzle with a tissue dipped in nail polish remover. For best performance from this product after opening, store in the refrigerator or in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. In the event that fingers get stuck together – don’t panic! Slowly twist fingers in opposite direction in hot soapy water. Acetone (most nail polish removers) or Olive oil can also be used to remove Quick Fix from skin. While supa glue is not recommended for use on some plastics, if your kids have broken their favourite toy, try this method: Line up the two pieces, glue it, leave it for 24 hours to dry, then drop more glue on the break area like a ‘collar’/protective layer. Since Quick Fix cures with moisture set times may be extended on very dry surfaces or under dry conditions. Supa glues cure more slowly when large amounts are used. For faster cure use sparingly. To remove excess from materials, it is recommended that the material be soaked in a solution of acetone and water (i.e. 3 parts acetone to 1 part water). Where soaking is not possible, try placing a piece of absorbant material (eg cotton wool) soaked in acetone on the excess for 5 to 10 minutes, topping up the acetone if it evaporates. Gently rub the surface with the material to remove the residues. TEST THE SURFACE IN AN INCONSPICUOUS SPOT to ensure it is unaffected by acetone before attempting removal using this method. Do not squeeze tube before removing cap. Handle tube by plastic nozzle neck when opening and closing cap. This prevents pressurizing tube which may force material into cap, preventing a tight seal after use. For cleaning surfaces prior to application of adhesive, if the surface is porous, we would recommend using SELLEYS Liquid Sugar Soap. If the surface is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with mineral turpentine and then again with methylated spirits. If there is old, difficult to remove residue such as old paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as SELLEYS Kwik Strip Smart. Ensure the surface is dry before applying the product. Keep a canister of SELLEYS Hand Kleen Wipes nearby for a quick and effective cleanup. Safetytips Avoid contact with the skin and eyes. Avoid breathing vapour. Quick Fix is non-hazardous once cured. How to Use Preparation For new tiling jobs, use Selleys White For Life Tiling Adhesives. Ensure that the tile adhesive has set (usually 24-48hrs). Remove spacers, rake out excessive, dust, debris etc from the joints. If re-grouting remove old grout and clean thoroughly with Selleys Rapid Mould Killer and allow to dry. Do not grout at temperatures below 10°C, or in damp conditions. Before grouting, check ease of removal from matt or textured tile surfaces. Seal porous tiles before grouting or removal of grout from tiles will be difficult. Application Cut seal, screw on nozzle, cut to size. Apply with a caulking gun, forcing grout into joints (for cartridge only). Grout small areas at a time. Work the grout into the joints and smooth off using a rubber squeegee or grout float, moving diagonally across the joints with several passes to compact the grout lines and minimise the amount left on the face of the tiles – avoid moving along the joint as this removes grout from the joint. Tip: hold float/squeegee at 45° angle; clean regularly. Clean up with water, before grout sets. Allow grout to firm up in joints for approx 20 min (longer in colder conditions). Using a damp (not wet) sponge, clean tile surfaces, by wiping lightly, in a circular motion. Finish with a single wipe diagonally across the tile with a clean damp ( not wet) sponge. Avoid repeated wiping as this may remove grout which is not yet fully set, from the joints. Buff and polish the tile surface, after 24hours, with a soft clean cloth. What materials is this putty suitable for? Wood Timber How to use this product Rebates and grooves should be rigid, free from distortion, true and square, and should be clean, dry and unobstructed before glazing. Rebates and grooves should be of a size which allows adequate edge cover and putty volume. Minimum bed putty – 2mm, minimum front putty – 4mm where timber beads are used, and 2mm bed putty and 12mm front putty where no glazing beads are used. Depth of rebate: 10mm for 3-4mm glass, 15mm for 5-8mm glass. Two coats of good quality house paint should be applied not less than 2 weeks and not more than 4 weeks after completion of glazing. Paint should be carried out 2mm above the top line of the putty. Handy tips Do not use kerosene, turps or other material to aid in working the putty Allow putty to skin before applying paint Product can be applied by hand or with a putty knife. Add a few drops of linseed oil on the hands or knife to make for easier working Putty can thicken in cold weather. Warming the putty by working it in the hands before the application will soften it. Putty must be painted in exterior applications. High humidity, cold weather and use in interior applications can extend skinning times. Putty can separate on prolonged standing. If the sealant is going to be used again within a few days, leave the nozzle on and merely extrude approximately 2 cm of product before storing the cartridge upright. This will cure to a plug which can easily be pulled out when required. For longer storage periods, leave the nozzle on and place a piece of plasticene or Blu Tack over the end of the nozzle. Tightly tape a piece of aluminium foil over the whole nozzle to exclude any air. When you want to re-use the product, simply take off the foil and plug from the old nozzle pull out the excess silicone from the nozzle with a corkscrew, then re-pierce any cure at the tip of the cartridge and re-use. If cure has taken place into the cartridge, the product is unlikely to be in a useable state and should be discarded.

Allow drying for at least 24 hours before sanding off any residue from the timber surface. Allow longer time in colder weather or if residue left on timber is excessive. Stain and varnish/paint as desired. Ensure stain/varnish is not allowed to pool in the joint – lightly wipe off while wet if necessary.         Limitations: Not for exterior use. Do not apply or store below 5°C.  Handy Tips Ensure you tape both sides of the gap before applying the product. This ensures a neat finish and makes it easier to clean up. When first applying the product, extrude a small amount onto a piece of scrap material to ensure a smooth continuous flow of gap filler. If you are going to wipe off the excess gap filler with a wet finger, ensure you wet your finger with water and not saliva, as saliva contains bacteria and this will increase the chances of mould growing in your gap filler. Allow the surfaces to the skin prior to painting, which is approximately 30 minutes. Protect from rain until firmly skinned. Allow for longer skin and cure times in damp conditions. Some water-based undercoats and flat paints may crack on drying. To reduce this effect allows the product to cure for 24 hours in small gaps or 48 hours in larger gaps before painting with such paints. Keep a pack of Selleys Sugar Soap Wipe handy to wipe up any spills and for cleaning. They are an easy and effective way to keep clean on the job.
