Loxeal 55-03 Threadlocker Medium Strength Anaerobic Adhesive 10ml
Loxeal 55-03 is a medium strength anaerobic threadlocker for nuts, bolts and studs of all types that may need to be dismantled later with standard hand tools. It tolerates minor oil contamination on the parts, so it keeps performing where threads are not perfectly clean. Once cured it resists vibration, corrosion, water, gas, oils, hydrocarbons and many other chemicals, and it holds its sealing properties from -55°C to +200°C (up to +250°C for short periods), with proven unscrewing resistance at +200°C.
Why choose Loxeal 55-03?
- Medium strength – assemblies can be dismantled with normal tools when servicing is needed
- Tolerates light oil contamination on threads
- Locks and seals fasteners in one step, stopping loosening caused by vibration
- Wide service temperature range of -55°C to +200°C
- Blue colour, fluorescent under blue light, for easy inspection on the production line
- Seals the thread against ingress, helping prevent rust and fretting corrosion
Certified and approved
- Approved as a gas-tight sealant for threaded fittings to European norm EN 751-1 (DVGW and Gaz de France)
- WRAS approved – suitable for use in contact with potable water
- Compliant with the UBA (German Environment Agency) declaration for potable water applications
- NSF registered in category S4 as acceptable for use as an adhesive in and around food processing areas
Typical applications
- Securing nuts, bolts, studs and screws on machinery, vehicles and equipment subject to vibration
- Sealing threaded fittings on gas, water and compressed air lines
- Automotive, plumbing and general maintenance work where later disassembly must remain possible
How to use
- Clean and degrease both parts with Loxeal Cleaner 10 and allow to dry.
- Apply enough adhesive to completely fill the engaged threads.
- Assemble and tighten the fastener to the required torque.
- Allow to cure before putting the joint into service. On passive surfaces (e.g. stainless steel, plated parts) or in cold conditions, pre-treat with Loxeal Activator 11 to speed the cure (this may slightly reduce final strength).
Cure times at +25°C
- Handling strength: 10–20 minutes
- Functional strength: 1–3 hours
- Full cure: 3–6 hours (maximum properties develop over 24–36 hours)

Chemical resistance
Manufacturer ageing tests show excellent long-term resistance to motor oil and gearbox oil at +125°C, ethanol and biodiesel, with good resistance to petrol, brake fluid, 50% water/glycol and acetone after 1,000 hours of exposure.
Important notes
- Formulated for metal substrates only – contact a technical service before use on other materials.
- The liquid adhesive can damage coatings, some plastics and elastomers, and may cause stress cracking in some thermoplastics.
- Not approved for use with pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, and not suitable for sealing chlorine or other strong oxidising agents.
- To disassemble, use normal tools; if needed, heat parts to +150°C/+250°C, remove cured residue mechanically and clean with acetone.
- Store in a cool, dry place at no more than +25°C and do not return used product to the container.
