Poly Poly Gap Filler Sealant Multipurpose [White]

In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

A flexible multipurpose gap filler, to fill gaps around cornice, wall joints, skirting board, window and door frames where where movement causes ordinary fillers to crack or fall out. For use on: Wood, brick, aluminium, glass, plasterboard, ceramic tiles and painted surfaces (INTERIOR & EXTERIOR) Coverage: 30m/3mm bead. Dry time: Skins in 30 minutes at 25°C. Full cure in 7days. Ready to use: YES Available in: 475g Colour: White NOTE: Not for fine joints between tongue and groove boards or weatherboard overlaps. • Ensure surfaces are clean, dry and free from oil, dust, grease, flaking paint and old sealant. • Using caulking gun, push sealant ahead of nozzle forcing it onto the surface and into the joint. Ensure the sealant is touching both sides of the gap. • Smooth with wet finger or knife and remove excess sealant immediately with a damp cloth. • Allow sealant to skin approx 30 min before painting with water-based paints. • Allow to set for 48 hours if using oil based paint or if joint is large. • Some water-based undercoats and flat paints may crack on drying. Test a small section of sealant. Paint cracking may be reduced by using a vinyl/ acrylic semi glossed paint or oil based undercoats first, or by allowing the sealant to cure thoroughly before painting. • Do not use outside if rain is imminent, not for contantly damp areas. • Painting improves exterior durability. • Use Poly silicone sealants for a watertight seal or where movement is excessive. • Water clean up Q. How do I fill gaps between my wooden window frames and inside wall? A. You're dealing with two different materials here, plaster and wood. To allow for differential movement between them, use Polyfilla Gap Filler, wiping off any excess with a damp cloth. Q. I painted over the areas where I used Polyfilla Gap Filler and now cracks have appeared. Why has this happened? A. If the gap filler was not cured sufficiently before it was painted over, cracks can occur as the gap filler shrinks. To prevent this, allow 48 hours drying time when you are filling large gaps or painting with oil-based paints. Also, some water based undercoats and paints shrink during drying and as Polyfilla Gap Filler is flexible, it won't stop cracks appearing in the shrinking paint on its surface. Test the paint on a small section of gap filler and if this is a problem you can reduce cracking by allowing the filler to cure thoroughly or by first coating it with a vinyl/acrylic semi-gloss or oil-based undercoat. Q. Why does my gap filler keeps cracking? A. It is important to remember that the width of a gap affects how much the product can move. Fine cracks less than 2mm allow the gap filler to move only very tiny amounts before it may crack again. It is best to ensure that you have at least 3mm worth of product so you can maximise the movement capability of your joint.

Selleys Liquid Nails Flex is a flexible construction adhesive built for jobs that need a strong, lasting hold that can still move. It is designed to stretch a long way under load while keeping its grip, so bonded materials can expand, contract and shift with the building without the join letting go.What it isA high-performance, low-VOC construction adhesive that bonds to most common building materials, porous or non-porous, and will even grab onto damp surfaces. It cures quickly, shrugs off everyday movement and wear, and stays paintable once set.Where to use itIndoors: fixing skirting, architraves, trims, panelling, plasterboard, tiles and general carpentry where a bit of flex is wanted.Outdoors: exterior trims, cladding and general building repairs, thanks to its interior and exterior rating and weather resistance. How to use itCut the nozzle and load the cartridge into a standard caulking gun. Run a continuous bead along studs, joists or battens, or space beads roughly 5cm apart on broad surfaces. Bring the surfaces together within about 10 minutes and brace, clamp or fix mechanically. Leave temporary fasteners in place for at least 4 hours, and use mechanical fixings for high-stress work.Important notesDo not rely on it as the sole support in structural or overhead applications, and avoid tightly clamped joints. • Dunlop Flexible Fine Coat Render 20kg

Dunlop Dunlop Flexible Fine Coat Render 20kg

In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

Dunlop Flexible Fine Coat Render is a high-performance, fibre-reinforced, polymer-modified render that produces a fine, closed finish with superior adhesion and flexibility. The embedded fibres and flexible polymers allow the render to tolerate the minor movement common to sheeted and composite walls, dramatically reducing the risk of surface cracking. It can be applied by standard trowelling methods or by spray, and a variety of decorative finishes can be achieved depending on how it is floated or sponged.Where to use itSuitable for indoor and outdoor use over an unusually wide range of substrates: FC sheet and blueboard, concrete and blockwork, sound painted surfaces (alkali stable and water resistant), existing render, AAC panels and blocks, and EPS foam panels. It is the go-to finishing render where substrate movement or mixed materials would defeat a rigid render. How to useEnsure the substrate is clean, sound and free of dust, oil and loose coatings; prime where the system requires. Mix the powder with clean water to a smooth, lump-free consistency and apply by steel trowel or spray at 2-10mm thickness. Rule off, allow the render to firm, then float, sponge or texture to the desired finish. A 20kg bag covers approximately 6.5m² at 2mm or 2.6m² at 5mm thickness. Clean tools with water before the render sets.Important notesStay within the 2-10mm application range per coat. Avoid rendering in extreme heat, wind or imminent rain, and protect the fresh surface from rapid drying. Painted substrates must be firmly bonded, alkali-stable and water resistant.Specifications Size 20kg bag Colour Grey Coverage 6.5m² at 2mm or 2.6m² at 5mm per bag Application thickness 2-10mm Reinforcement Fibre-reinforced, polymer modified SafetyCement-based powder — the wet mix is alkaline and dust can irritate airways. • Dunlop Flexible FC Jointing Compound 8kg

Dunlop Dunlop Flexible FC Jointing Compound 8kg

In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

Dunlop Flexible FC Jointing Compound in the 8kg trade pail is a premixed, flexible jointing compound for fibre cement sheet and blueboard, formulated to prepare sheet joints before decorative coatings, texture finishes or render go on. Ready to use straight from the container, it removes mixing from the workflow entirely and keeps a consistent, workable body from the first trowel-load to the last. Its flexible acrylic formulation moves with the substrate to resist joint cracking, while strong adhesion keys the compound firmly to the sheet surface.Where to use itFor jointing fibre cement sheeting and blueboard on interior and exterior walls — cladding, facades, garage conversions, extensions and commercial sheeted walls — prior to painting, texture coating or rendering. The larger pail suits whole-wall and multi-room jobs where a 3kg pack would run short. How to useCheck that sheets are rigidly fixed and joints are clean, dry and dust-free. Apply the compound over each joint with a trowel or broad knife, embedding jointing tape where the sheet manufacturer requires it, then finish with a band approximately 75mm wide and 1mm thick, feathered smooth at the edges. Allow to dry completely before over-coating. Wet compound cleans off tools with water. Coverage is approximately 7 lineal metres per kilogram at 75mm width and 1mm thickness, so an 8kg pail joints in the order of 55 lineal metres.Important notesDesigned movement joints should be finished with a flexible sealant rather than jointing compound. Drying slows in cold or humid weather. Keep the lid sealed between uses and do not thin the product with water.Specifications Size 8kg pail Colour Grey Coverage Approx. 7Lm per kg (75mm wide at 1mm thick) Location Indoor and outdoor walls SafetyWater-based acrylic product. Wear gloves and eye protection during application, avoid prolonged skin contact and wash with water after use. • Dunlop Tile Pointing 10L

    Dunlop Dunlop Tile Pointing 10L

In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

Dunlop Tile Pointing is a flexible, premixed pointing compound that acts as a mechanical adhesive for hip and ridge roof tiles, exceeding the requirements of the relevant Australian Standards. Independently tested to achieve a C4 classification, it is approved for use in cyclonic regions, and its low-VOC formula resists mould and mildew while flexing with normal roof movement. Available in five roof-matched colours and backed by a 10 year guarantee, it is the straightforward way to re-point ridge capping and secure hip tiles without mixing mortar additives on site.Where to use itFor exterior roofing work only — pointing hip and ridge tiles over fresh or sound existing bedding on concrete and terracotta tiled roofs. Choose the colour that best matches your tiles: Slate Grey, Charred Ash, Jet Black, Sand or Terracotta. How to useBefore application, ensure all bedding material is in place and sound, and surfaces are clean and free of dust and loose mortar. Stir the pail contents, then apply the compound directly over the bedding with a gauging or pointing trowel, working it firmly against both the ridge tile and the roof tile surfaces to a thickness of roughly 3-5mm. Tool off to a neat finish. Wash tools in warm water immediately after use. Coverage is approximately 2 lineal metres per litre, so a 10L pail points roughly 20-22 lineal metres of ridging depending on technique.Important notesNever add water to Tile Pointing. Cold (below 10°C), damp or humid conditions lengthen drying time, while hot, windy weather can significantly shorten working time — avoid application if rain is imminent.Specifications Size 10L pail Colours Slate Grey, Charred Ash, Jet Black, Sand, Terracotta Coverage Approx. 2 lineal metres per litre (20-22Lm per pail) Application thickness 3-5mm Classification C4 - cyclonic region approved SafetyLow VOC, water-based compound. Dunlop Flexible FC Jointing Compound is a premixed, flexible compound for jointing fibre cement sheet and blueboard before decorative coatings are applied. Because it comes ready to use straight from the pail, there is no on-site mixing, no powder mess and no guesswork about water ratios — simply open, stir and trowel. The flexible formulation accommodates the minor movement typical of sheeted walls, while its excellent adhesion delivers a reliable, crack-resistant joint. The compact 3kg pail is ideal for smaller sheeting jobs and repairs.Where to use itUse on interior and exterior walls to finish joints between fibre cement sheets and blueboard prior to painting, texture coating or rendering. It is the recommended first step in preparing sheeted facades, extensions and infill panels for a decorative finish. How to useEnsure sheets are securely fixed and joints are clean, dry and free of dust. Where the sheet system requires it, embed jointing tape in a first application of compound. Apply the compound over the joint with a trowel or broad knife in a band roughly 75mm wide and about 1mm thick, feathering the edges smooth into the sheet face. Allow to dry fully before over-coating with paint, texture or render. Tools clean up with water while the compound is wet. Coverage is approximately 7 lineal metres per kilogram at a 75mm width and 1mm thickness — around 21 lineal metres from this 3kg pail.Important notesNot a structural adhesive or gap filler for moving joints wider than the system allows — use a flexible sealant at designed movement joints. Cold or humid conditions extend drying time. Reseal the pail after use to keep the remainder workable.Specifications Size 3kg pail Colour Grey Coverage Approx. 7Lm per kg (75mm wide at 1mm thick) Location Indoor and outdoor walls SafetyWater-based acrylic compound. Dunlop Matte Silicone is a flexible acetic-cure sealant with an elegant matte finish, made for modern tiles and grouts where a shiny silicone bead would look out of place. Available in four designer colours — White, Grey, Silver Grey and Anthracite — it lets the sealant line sit quietly against matte porcelain, stone-look tiles and contemporary grout colours while still delivering strong adhesion and dependable waterproofing.Where to use itIdeal for wall and floor junctions, tiled surfaces, benchtops, bath edges, cupboards, splashbacks and movement joints up to 30mm wide. It is mould resistant, UV and weather resistant, and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, including wet areas. It bonds well to ceramic tiles, glass, enamel, anodised aluminium, granite, porcelain and sanitary acrylics. How to usePrepare joints so they are clean, dry and free of dust, grease and old sealant residue. Cut the cartridge tip and nozzle to match the joint width, fit the cartridge in a caulking gun and run a smooth, continuous bead along the joint. Tool it off promptly before a skin forms, remove masking tape straight away, and let the silicone cure fully before use in wet areas.Important notesBeing an acetic-cure silicone, it must not be used under waterproofing membranes or with mirrors, as the cure can damage those surfaces — use a neutral-cure silicone there instead. In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

Dunlop Timber Joint Sealant is a flexible sealant developed specifically for wall and floor joints around timber substrates such as laminate, parquet and solid wooden floorboards. It fills expansion gaps, skirting junctions and threshold joints in a timber-toned finish, stopping water and debris from working their way into the joint while still allowing the natural movement of the floor. Once cured it can be sanded and painted over, making it easy to blend into the surrounding surface, and it is available in two distinctive wood-look colours: Beech and Silver Grey Oak.Where to use itUse it on wall and floor joints where timber, laminate or parquet meets another surface — around floor perimeters, stair nosings, skirtings and door thresholds — indoors and outdoors. It also adheres well to ceramic tiles, glass, enamel, anodised aluminium, granite, porcelain and sanitary acrylics, so it handles transitions between timber and tiled areas neatly. How to useEnsure joints are clean, dry and free from dust, oils and loose material. Cut the cartridge tip and nozzle to suit the gap, load it into a caulking gun and apply an even, continuous bead. Dunlop Coloured Silicone is a flexible acetic-cure sealant designed to finish and protect the joints that grout alone cannot handle. Because the colour range is matched to the Dunlop Coloured Grout palette, you can seal wall junctions, bath edges and benchtop joints in a shade that blends seamlessly with your tiling for a clean, coordinated finish. It applies easily from a standard 310ml cartridge, bonds strongly, stays waterproof and is backed by a 10 year guarantee.Where to use itUse it on wall and floor junctions, tiled surfaces and benchtops, bath edges, cupboards, splashbacks and movement joints, both indoors and outdoors. It is waterproof and suitable for use in showers, and offers strong adhesion to ceramic tiles, glass, enamel, anodised aluminium, granite, porcelain and sanitary acrylics. How to useMake sure joints are clean, dry and free of dust, old sealant and excess adhesive. Cut the cartridge tip and nozzle to suit the joint width, load into a caulking gun and apply a continuous bead into the joint. Tool the bead smooth within a few minutes of application, before a skin forms, and remove any masking tape immediately. Apply at temperatures between 5°C and 40°C and allow the silicone to cure fully before exposing it to water.Important notesThis is an acetic-cure silicone, so do not use it under waterproofing membranes or against mirror backings, as it can damage those surfaces — choose a neutral-cure silicone for such jobs. Suits joints up to 30mm wide and 15mm deep.Specifications Size 310ml cartridge Max joint width 30mm wide x 15mm deep Cure type Acetic cure silicone SafetyUse in a well-ventilated area and avoid contact with skin and eyes while uncured. In Stock  Express Post: 1-3 Days | Standard Post: 2-5 Days

Dunlop Waterproofing Reinforcing Mat is the quiet workhorse of a Dunlop waterproofing job. This 100mm wide fabric roll is embedded into the wet membrane at every corner, joint and crack, the places where movement and stress are most likely to open up a leak. By carrying the membrane across these weak points, it helps guarantee proper film thickness in the critical zones and lets you apply the second waterproofing coat immediately over the reinforced areas.Where to use itUse it indoors in wet areas as an integral part of the Dunlop waterproofing system, together with Dunlop Undertile Waterproofing. Reinforce wall/floor junctions, wall/wall corners, sheet joints, cracks, shower hobs and hob/floor joints, over metal or PVC angles, and along 90-degree external edges such as balcony perimeters. How to useApply the first coat of membrane to the junction, press a length of mat into the wet membrane so it sits flat without air pockets, then coat over the top so the fabric is fully saturated. The mat also acts as a carrier in awkward, hard-to-reach spots and smooths rough joints so the membrane covers evenly. Cut lengths with scissors or a utility knife as you go.Important notesThe junctions between wall and floor, hob and floor, and vertical corners where two walls meet should always be reinforced. The mat is a reinforcing component, not a standalone waterproofing product; it must be fully encapsulated in membrane.Specifications Size 100mm x 50m roll Use with Dunlop Undertile Waterproofing and Dunlop membranes Application areas Junctions, corners, joints, cracks, hobs, edges SafetyLow-hazard fabric product; take care when cutting and follow the safety directions of the membrane being used. For best performance, pair with these Loxeal products: Loxeal Cleaner 10 Degreaser: clean and degrease the flange faces first for maximum bond strength. Loxeal Activator 11: speeds curing on stainless steel, plated and other passive metals, in cold conditions, or across larger gaps. Loxeal 58-31 Gasketing Elastic Anaerobic Adhesive 75ml Loxeal 58-31 is a high-performance anaerobic gasketing adhesive that cures to an elastic, flexible film, replacing solid pre-formed gaskets on flange joints. It seals against gases, water, LPG, fuels, oils and a wide range of chemicals, resists shocks and vibration, and keeps sealing from -55°C right up to +180°C. The thixotropic consistency stops the sealant migrating before or during cure, and the red adhesive fluoresces under blue light for easy inspection on the production line. Why choose Loxeal 58-31? Elastic cured film accommodates joint movement while maintaining the seal Higher strength and faster fixture than general-purpose flange sealants Extended service temperature to +180°C Thixotropic — no running or migration on vertical flanges Fluorescent under blue light for quality-control checks Dismantles with standard tools when service is required Typical applications Sealing flange joints on pumps, gearboxes and differential housings where an elastic, vibration-resistant gasket and elevated temperature capability are needed — demanding automotive, transport and industrial maintenance work. How to use Clean and degrease the flange faces (Loxeal Cleaner 10 recommended). Apply enough product to fill the joint gap completely. Assemble the parts and hold them in place while curing. Use Loxeal Activator 11 for faster cure on passive metals or at low temperatures. To dismantle, use normal tools (heat to +150°C/+250°C if necessary), remove cured residue mechanically and clean with acetone. Cure times At +25°C on steel: handling strength in 10–20 minutes, functional strength in 1–3 hours and full cure in 6–12 hours. Cure speed varies with gap, substrate and temperature. Specifications Chemistry Anaerobic methacrylate Colour Red (fluorescent under blue light) Viscosity (+25°C) 70–600 Pa·s Specific gravity (+25°C) Approx. 1.1 g/ml Maximum gap fill 0.50 mm Breakaway torque (ISO 10964) 15–25 N·m Prevailing torque (ISO 10964) 18–28 N·m Shear strength (ISO 4587) 8–13 N/mm² Tensile strength (ISO 6922) 7–10 N/mm² Impact strength (ASTM D-950) 4–7 kJ/m² Service temperature -55°C to +180°C Flash point > +100°C Shelf life 1 year at +25°C in original unopened packaging Chemical resistance Fully cured Loxeal 58-31 offers excellent resistance to motor oil and gearbox oil at +125°C through 1,000 hours, excellent-to-good resistance to hot 50% water/glycol mixtures, and moderate resistance to gasoline on prolonged exposure. Important notes Recommended for metal surfaces — seek technical advice before applying to non-metal parts. Uncured adhesive can damage coatings, some plastics and elastomers, and may cause delayed stress-cracking in certain thermoplastics. Store cool and dry at no more than +25°C; do not refill containers with used product. Safety Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. The information above is provided as a general guide only, based on the manufacturer's technical data. Always confirm suitability for your specific application before use.

High-Grade Neutral Cure Silicone A high-grade neutral (non-corrosive) cure silicone formulated for superior adhesion to cement (e.g., grout). The product also contains a fungicidal protector for excellent mould and fungal resistance. Features Superior adhesion to mortar, grout, and metals. As the product does not lift at the edges and adheres so well to cement and grout, dirt, mould, and fungus will not become trapped, preventing unsightly black mould spots. Superior silicone formulation forms a durable seal that locks out water and does not shrink when drying. Built-in fungicide to inhibit the growth of mould. Available in a range of colours to suit most wet areas. Non-corrosive neutral cure formula. Low odour, so can be used in any environment without discomfort. Easy to clean once applied, as it resists moisture, hot cooking oils, and steam. Superior flexibility with +/- 25% movement capability and up to 400% elongation or stretch. Temperature resistance: approximately -60°C to +150°C. 25-year guarantee – when used as directed, i.e., for private use and within 12 months of purchase, the product is guaranteed against crumbling, cracking, or drying. Where can this product be used? Showers and sinks Metal, copper, and brass fittings Perfect for use on or around: Showers Baths Spas Sinks Plumbing Fixtures Can not be painted over. Not suitable for building materials that bleed oils or solvents, such as impregnated wood. Not for use on polyethylene, polypropylene, or Teflon. Pre-test plastics before use. What materials is this product suitable for? Ceramic, glazed & porcelain fixtures Metal, copper, and brass fittings Plastic laminates Rubber Glass Stainless steel Concrete and grouts Many plastics including polystyrene How to use this product Thoroughly clean and dry the surface from oil, dirt, and grease with Mineral Turpentine first and then Methylated Spirits. Allow to dry completely before applying silicone. If there is old silicone that needs to be removed, we recommend using SELLEYS SILICONE REMOVER. This ingenious product makes removing old silicone easy. We also recommend sanding the surface back with a good quality sanding block, such as a ROTA COTA Sanding Block Medium/Course Grain, as the silicone will adhere more readily to a scratched-up surface. Ensure you tape both sides of the gap before applying the product. This ensures a neat finish and makes it easier to clean up. Cut the seal at the top of the cartridge and cut the nozzle at a 45° angle, to the size of the gap opening. Fit the nozzle to the top of the cartridge. Insert the cartridge into a caulking gun such as the SELLEYS LIGHT SPEED Caulking Gun. We recommend this caulking gun, as its new innovative pressure release design reduces the mess from run-on and stress on your hands, which is critical if you are doing a lot of sealing. Hold the caulking gun at a 45° angle. Press the nozzle opening against the joint, apply steady pressure to the caulking gun, and extrude the silicone sealant. Move in a pushing motion along the joint in one smooth action. For a smooth finish, smooth with a finger dipped in mineral turpentine or, for a professional finish, use a paint scraper such as a 50mm ROTA COTA Soft Grip Scraper dipped in mineral turpentine. Excess sealant must be cleaned up before it skins in 5-10 minutes. Wipe excess away with a cloth dampened in mineral turpentine or use a SELLEYS Hand Kleen Wipe. Remove tape before the sealant skins. Clean tools immediately with mineral turpentine. Avoid smearing on surrounding surfaces. The sealant will cure fully in 72 hours. At this point, any unwanted sealant can be removed by trimming with a sharp blade, but avoid undercutting the seal. Handy Tips Ensure you tape both sides of the gap before applying the product for a neat finish and easy cleanup. When first applying, extrude a small amount onto a piece of scrap material to ensure a smooth continuous flow of silicone sealant. Remove the tape before the silicone sealant skins. For a better finish, complete painting prior to using the sealant as it cannot be painted over. Use a spatula dipped in mineral turpentine or detergent and water to tool off the sealant for a better finish. Work in sections that can be completed before the sealant skins. Tooling off and tape removal must be completed before skinning occurs for a better finish. Keep a pack of SELLEYS Hand Kleen Wipes handy to wipe up spills and clean any material off the skin before it cures. Safety Tips Uncured product may irritate eyes. If in eyes, flood the eyes for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice. Avoid contact with skin. If contact occurs, wipe off immediately and wash with detergent. It may irritate sensitive skin. Avoid breathing in vapours. Ensure you use a well-ventilated area as the product releases methyl ethyl ketoxime while curing. For advice, contact a Poisons Information Centre (AUS 131 126; NZ 0800 764 766) or a doctor. For further detail on the safe use of this product, please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet, which can be downloaded from this site. Keep away from children. Storage and Re-Use Store in cool dry conditions, below 30°C. The sealant should be used within 6 months after opening. After use, keep the nozzle on the cartridge. Silicone is a reactive product and cures once exposed to humidity. For longer storage periods, leave the nozzle on and place plasticene or Blu Tack over the end of the nozzle. Tightly tape a piece of aluminium foil over the whole nozzle to exclude any air. When re-using, simply remove the foil and plug from the old nozzle, pull out the excess silicone, and re-pierce the tip of the cartridge. If cure has occurred inside the cartridge, the product is no longer usable and should be discarded.

Dunlop Trade Resaflex Rapidset Tile Adhesive 5 kg Overview Dunlop Trade Resaflex Rapidset Tile Adhesive 5 kg is a high quality tile adhesive designed to deliver consistent, reliable bonding performance for trade professionals and serious DIYers. It is formulated for dependable adhesion, easy application, and clean finishing so you can complete jobs with confidence and minimal rework. Why choose this product Reliable bond performance supported by proven chemistry and rigorous quality control. Smooth, predictable application that helps reduce mess and cleanup time. Versatile adhesion profile suited to a wide range of substrates and project types. Clear guidance on surface preparation, application method, and curing to help achieve the best possible result. Suitable for residential fit-outs, maintenance, repairs, and light commercial projects. Suitable materials ceramic tiles porcelain tiles mosaics stone suitable for porous adhesives most interior substrates Typical applications General installation, repair, and maintenance where a durable bond is required. Interior work that benefits from a neat finish and tidy joints. Projects where dependable initial grab and high final strength are important. Surface preparation Ensure all surfaces are clean, sound, and dry. Remove dust, oil, release agents, laitance, and any loose or flaky material. For dense or non-porous surfaces, light abrasion improves key. Test adhesion on a small area if you are unsure about compatibility. Observe local safety requirements when sanding or cutting. Application Check ambient and substrate temperature. Ideal application between 10°C and 30°C. Protect from freezing and rapid drying. Cut the nozzle to the required bead size or prepare the container according to the product type. Apply an even bead or spread with a suitable trowel where required. Avoid trapping air. Press the materials together, ensuring full contact. For sheet goods, roll firmly to promote transfer and wetting. Support, clamp, or brace as needed until the adhesive develops sufficient handling strength. Cure and working time Pot life and open time vary by product. Typically, tiles can be adjusted within minutes. Grouting commonly permitted after 24 hours under standard conditions. Cooler temperatures and high humidity will slow curing, while warmer, drier conditions accelerate it. Do not load or finish until the bond has developed adequate strength. Always follow best practice for ventilation and safe handling during cure. Coverage Coverage varies based on substrate profile, bead size, and installation method. As a guide, a 300 ml cartridge with a 6 mm round bead can lay several linear meters. For trowel applied adhesives, a notched trowel pattern will influence yield. Plan to have extra on hand for porous or uneven surfaces. Limitations Do not apply to surfaces that are visibly wet unless the product specifically allows damp application. Avoid continuous water immersion unless the product is rated for that exposure. Not all plastics are compatible; test on polypropylene, polyethylene, and PTFE if required. Observe maximum service temperature and any movement or vibration limits appropriate to the application. Clean up Clean excess adhesive from tile faces immediately with a damp sponge. Hardened material must be removed mechanically. Always read the product label and follow local regulations for disposal of leftover material and containers. Safety Read the label before use and keep out of reach of children. Use in a well ventilated area. Wear protective gloves and eye protection. If on skin, wash with soap and water. If in eyes, rinse cautiously and seek medical advice if irritation persists. Do not ingest. Refer to the product Safety Data Sheet for detailed information. Storage Store upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the cap or nozzle tightly closed when not in use. Davco Davelastic Tile Adhesive Additive 1 L is a reliable latex additive to upgrade cement based tile adhesive performance chosen for home repairs, trade work, and craft builds when you want a bond you can trust. Designed for Australian conditions, it balances strength, ease of use, and clean application so you can get professional results without special tools. The 1 L pack is ideal for general work and keeps neatly in a toolbox or caddy. Why choose Davco Davelastic for your next project Everyday jobs often involve mixed materials and imperfect surfaces. Davco Davelastic Tile Adhesive Additive 1 L has been formulated to wet out well, grab quickly, and cure to a tough finish that resists movement and contact stress. It maintains bond integrity across common temperature swings and has dependable resistance to moisture and most household chemicals. Whether you are fixing, building, sealing, or assembling, this product gives you confidence from first squeeze through final set. Best for Improving bond strength and flexibility Situations where extra deformability is required Wet area tiling as part of a system Suitable surfaces The adhesive works well on the following surface types when properly prepared: Concrete, screeds, and renders Cement based adhesives and grouts as specified Surface preparation Good preparation is the key to a long lasting repair. Remove loose material, dust, and grease. Wipe glossy areas with methylated spirits or an approved cleaner and allow to dry. On very smooth plastics and metals, lightly roughen with fine abrasive paper to give the adhesive a mechanical key. Dry fit parts first and mark alignment points so you can assemble accurately within the open time. If bonding porous materials, ensure both faces are dry and free of surface chalking. How to use Check fit and plan clamping. Do a trial run without adhesive so you know the order of steps. Apply a thin, continuous bead to one surface. For wide pieces, use a zig zag pattern to maximise wetting. Bring surfaces together within the stated open time of follows the base adhesive behaviour. Reseat once if needed, then hold steady. Apply even pressure using clamps, tape, weights, or temporary fasteners. Avoid squeezing all adhesive out of the joint. Allow to cure undisturbed. Initial handling strength will develop as the adhesive sets, with a full cure reached based on the chemistry described below. Cure profile Replace all or part of the mixing water with the additive as directed. Observe normal set and cure times for the base adhesive. Temperature and environmental performance Use within the recommended application window of the system you are modifying. Avoid application to very cold, sweating, or waterlogged surfaces. For outdoor use protect fresh bonds from rain until the skin has formed and the core has progressed in cure. Once fully cured, the bond resists normal weathering, splash water, and intermittent UV exposure based on the substrate and paint systems used. Clean up and finishing Wash tools with water while the mix is fresh. When cured, excess can be carefully trimmed or sanded. For painted finishes, allow the adhesive to fully cure before priming. Test paint on a small area to confirm compatibility and drying behaviour. Coverage guide Coverage varies with bead size, surface porosity, and technique. As a general guide, a 3 mm bead yields approximately 10 to 12 linear meters per 310 mL cartridge. Smaller packs scale proportionally. Gaps, rough edges, and highly absorbent materials will reduce coverage. Plan an extra margin for offcuts and practice passes. Tips for best results Work within the recommended open time so the adhesive can properly wet the surfaces. Use light clamping pressure to keep parts aligned while maintaining a film thickness for strength. For very porous substrates, apply a thin precoat as a primer layer and allow it to tack before final assembly. Keep joint lines clean by masking edges with painter tape and removing it before the adhesive skins. Where movement or vibration is expected, design the joint to share load across a large area. Troubleshooting Poor adhesion: Check for oil, release agents, or surface dust. Reclean and lightly abrade if necessary. Slow cure: Low temperature and low humidity extend cure time. Maintain moderate conditions for best results. Visible squeeze out: Wipe fresh material with a suitable solvent and a soft cloth. Once cured, trim carefully. Bond line prints through paint: Allow a full cure, then prime and apply thin coats of paint, allowing proper drying between coats. Storage and shelf life Keep sealed. Protect from freezing. Shake before use. Always check the pack for a lot code and use by guidance. Reseal immediately after use and store upright. Dispose of empty containers responsibly. Safety Read the label before use. Wear gloves when handling uncured material. Provide ventilation in enclosed areas. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Keep out of reach of children and pets. If sensitivity occurs, stop use and seek advice. Do not ingest. First aid directions and detailed handling information are available on the package and the safety data sheet. Frequently asked questions Can I bond dissimilar materials? Yes, provided each surface is clean and sound. Differences in expansion are managed by the adhesive film thickness and the inherent flexibility after cure. Is clamping required? Light clamping improves alignment and final strength. Excessive pressure can starve the joint of adhesive which reduces performance. Is the bond water resistant? Once cured the bond resists splash water and routine humidity. For permanent immersion choose an adhesive designed for underwater service and follow the manufacturer guidance. Planning your job Measure twice and cut once. Dry assemble parts so you can confirm squareness and alignment before adhesive is involved. Keep rags, clamps, and spacers ready. If you are new to the product, test on offcuts to get a feel for bead size and squeeze out. A consistent 1 to 2 mm bond line is a good starting point for most rigid materials. Thicker lines help when surfaces are uneven. Avoid starving the joint by pressing too hard without giving the adhesive a place to reside. Responsible use Choose an adhesive that suits the materials and the environment the finished piece will face. If a joint will be submerged, carry structural loads, or be exposed to strong chemicals, check the technical data sheet for specific guidance. Many general purpose products are perfect for day to day work, while specialised tasks call for a system designed and tested for that environment. Using the right product first saves time, money, and rework. Aftercare and maintenance Adhesive joints are remarkably strong when used correctly. Design repairs so that routine loads are shared across a generous area. Where heavy vibration is present, pair the adhesive bond with appropriate mechanical fasteners. Keep cleaning chemicals mild, and avoid abrasive pads on visible joints. If a bond will be repainted, choose flexible paint where movement is expected, and keep edges sealed to prevent dirt tracking along the bond line. Recycling and disposal Allow empty containers to cure before disposal. Check local council guidance for recycling of plastics and metal cartridges. Never pour uncured product into drains or soil. Wipe tools on scrap material and let residue harden before placing in general waste. Smart handling keeps the workspace clean and reduces environmental impact.
