Ensure substrates are clean and free of oil, grease or loose particles. Cut seal and nozzle and fit to cartridge, then place in caulking gun. Hold caulking gun at 45° angle and gun sealant ahead of nozzle ensuring product is pushed into joint. For neat joints, use masking tape on both sides of the joint and remove before skinning. Tool with a soapy solution before skinning occurs. For optimal joint design, use non-absorbent backing material (e.g. polyethylene backer rod) and appropriate joint width/depth. If adhesion of gasket is not required wipe mating surfaces with an oily cloth. -Pierce seal in the tube, fit nozzle and cut to size. Squeeze the bead of sealant onto one of the surfaces to be joined, around the perimeter of the part and around bolt holes. -Join parts together within 10 minutes and bolt down to the desired torque. If a thicker gasket is required assemble but do not tighten bolts for 24 hours. Material cures in 24 hours. (When disassembly is required, pry two flanges apart and remove old sealant before reassembly.) Clean Up -Uncured product may be removed with mineral turpentine. Cured product can be removed with Selleys Silicone Remover or by mechanical action. Handy tips -When eliminating cork gaskets, ensure that adequate clearance remains for mechanical parts e.g. valve rocker covers (do not fully tighten until sealant has cured) Limitations *Not for copper brass or galvanised metal surfaces **Not suitable for continuous exposure to temperatures above 205°C or intermittent (more than 2 hours) expose to temperatures above 260°C Not for exhaust manifold or for contact with gasoline or distillate Safety tips -Avoid contact with skin and eyes and breathing vapour -On contact, the uncured sealant can irritate eyes. Apply immediately to both surfaces and press together. Remove excess glue at once. 7. Allow bond to set for 10 minutes before moving or handling. 8. After 24 hours, typical shear strength on steel is 3000 PSI. 9. Cure time will be slower in colder weather. For Cleanup 1. Cleanup must be completed before curing is complete. Use acetone or mineral spirits for cleanup. 2. Clean hands with Permatex Fast Orange hand cleaners. Chemical / Solvent Resistance The product retains effective properties when in contact with water, oil, fuels, and most solvents. Not recommended for long term exposure to chemicals and solvents. NOTE: Permatex Cold Weld Bonding Compound will not bond polyethylene and polypropylene plastics. PC-Metal™ Putty Epoxy replaces metal. Mix with fingers and apply. Quickly PC-Metal™ cures to reattach metal (30 min). Cures hard, fast, nonconductive. Contains metal – sticks to metals such as cast iron, zinc, aluminium, stainless steel, steel and copper. Here are just a few specific uses (there are hundreds of other uses): Replace broken knob on a drill press Insulate wire connections, secure wire nuts Rebuild and repair zinc or aluminium gear housing Fill abandoned drill holes in aluminium or steel Seal stainless steel electrical panel Stop leaking drum How to prepare a surface for bonding with PC-Metal™ Remove contaminants such as dust, dirt, oil and grime with a solvent such as denatured alcohol (ethanol), acetone, rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or lacquer thinner. Mild detergent solution in water is also good removing contaminants. Use a clean paper towel or rag for wiping. Remove rust and loose paint with sandpaper or wire brush. Epoxy typically sticks to most paints. If there is a concern of the paint’s adhesion then remove it with sandpaper, wire brush or paint stripper. Smooth, glossy and shiny surfaces should be roughened using sandpaper to increase adhesion. Adhesion to wet or damp surfaces can be improved by wiping with alcohol. Do not use mineral spirits or paint thinner for removing contaminants. How to clean-up after PC-Metal™ application We recommend wearing disposable gloves when mixing and applying epoxy putty. Remove from skin with soap and warm water. Clean up mixed epoxy before it cures with paper towels and solvent. Denatured alcohol (ethanol), acetone, rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or lacquer thinner are suitable solvents for removing uncured epoxy. Cured epoxy can be physically removed by prying off with a screwdriver or pliers. It can also be removed with paint stripper or remover. Can PC-Metal™ plug a hole in a 55 gallon drum? PC-Metal™ is an excellent product for quickly plugging a hole made in a drum. PC-Metal™ has a strong odor. Does the smell go away? PC-Metal’s™ odour stops after it cures. PC-Metal™ is dark gray, dense and hard when cured. Is it as strong as metal? PC-Metal™ is a product that is designed to look like and cure hard like metal. It is excellent for bonding and filling metal objects but is not as strong as steel, aluminium and other metals. How fast does it cure? How much should be mixed? PC-Metal™ is very fast curing. It is important to mix small portions for 45 to 60 seconds and immediately apply to the surface. Within 3 to 5 minutes PC-Metal™ cures very hard. In less than 60 minutes PC-Metal™ reaches its full hardness. What kind of metal is in PC-Metal™? Does PC-Metal™ rust? It is an alloy of iron and aluminium. It will not rust. Can PC-Metal™ be machined? Can it be tapped or cut? Cured PC-Metal™ can be drilled and cut. Tapping threads in PC-Metal™ is not advised. It is better to set the bolt or threads in the mixed PC-Metal™. Coat the threaded screw or bolt with release agent if it needs to be removed. Can PC-Metal™ be used to seal a cracked engine block? PC-Metal™ has many automotive uses even repairs to engines.

For better adhesion, slightly roughen the surface with a wire brush or sandpaper prior to cleaning. Cut off desired length of Epoxy Putty and knead until uniform color is obtained. Putty turns from blue to white when completely mixed. Application Apply the putty to surface to be repaired within 3 minutes of mixing. Work putty firmly into the crack or hole. For bonding, place the putty between the surfaces and apply firm pressure to ensure intimate contact with both surfaces. If applying to a wet surface, apply forcefully and hold in place until adhesion takes effect. For a smooth finish, rub the putty with a damp cloth prior to hardening. Working time is approximately 5 minutes. After 45 minutes, the putty can be sanded, drilled or painted. Cleanup Cured putty may be cut away with caution using a sharp blade.

Keep away from eyes. Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors. Apply in a well ventilated area. Open windows and doors to achieve good cross-ventilation. Wear safety glasses to protect eyes, and rubber or plastic gloves to protect skin. Step 2: Preparation Protect work area. Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from oil, wax and paint. For better adhesion, roughen smooth surfaces prior to cleaning. Pre-fit parts to be joined. Pierce tube nozzles using the reverse side of the caps. Squeeze out equal amounts of resin and hardener on a clean, disposable surface. Prepare only as much as can be used within 3 minutes of mixing. Recap tubes immediately after use. Match the black cap with the resin and the white cap with the hardener. Mix resin and hardener together for approximately 1 minute or until it is uniform in color. Step 3: Application Apply to surfaces to be filled or bonded. Join and press parts together. When bonding butt joints, adhesive should be applied as a reinforcing fillet or splint over the joint for additional support. Remove any excess glue immediately with acetone, mineral spirits or rubbing alcohol. Support until bond sets in 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature. Parts can be handled within 15 minutes and machined within 16 to 24 hours. Cure time is lengthened in cooler temperatures and shortened in warmer weather. Step 4: Cleanup Clean excess glue immediately with acetone before adhesive sets. Cured adhesive may be cut away with caution using a sharp blade. Prolonged immersion in paint stripper will soften the cured adhesive to aid removal.

Cut the nylon mesh to the exact shape of the metal bracket that will fit onto the windscreen. Hands must be clean and oil-free while doing this. - Cut the tip from the adhesive tube (Dia. 1, Part A), apply the adhesive from the tube and spread over the entire area of the metal bracket - Place the cut to size nylon mesh onto the adhesive on the metal bracket. Important. The adhesive will begin curing within 30 seconds of contact with the nylon mesh. Diagram 7: Note Ensure the bracket is in the correct position (top and bottom front and back) With the nylon mesh and adhesive assembled, press the bracket and mesh against the inside of the windscreen aligned with the marked location and hold firm for a minimum of 30 seconds Wipe off any excess adhesive, Allow adhesive to cure for at least 15 minutes before mounting the mirror to the bracket.
